Conrad Shipyard history

1962: The company starts building and repairing vessels for the offshore oil and gas industries.

When the oil and gas balloon burst in 1984, both Morgan City and Conrad were hit very hard.

In 1989 it sparked the end of the Iron Curtain, and for Poland, it was the start of a new beginning.

1993 | SWAN FAN MAKKUM

1994: Founder Conrad steps down as company's president but remains chairman; Bill Hidalgo succeeds him as president and CEO.

Also, in 1996, just before its acquisition by Conrad, Orange had been awarded a United States Army contract to build two pusher tugs, with an option for six more.

The next year, 1998, Conrad began operations at a conversion and repair facility in Amelia, Louisiana.

In October 2000, at a cost of $1.3 million, Conrad acquired an additional 52 acres of land in Amelia, located on the Intracoastal Waterway, within a mile of the company's existing Amelia facility.

2001: A new, state-of-the-art drydock at the Morgan City shipyard is completed; Kenneth G. Myers, Jr., is named company president and CEO.

In August of 2002, it announced that it had drafted a non-binding letter of intent to purchase Swiftshifts Shipbuilders, LLC and Swiftships Technologies for about $12.5 million in cash.

In 2003 Marine Projects Ltd. decided to establish Conrad Joint Stock Company, a new company solely for the production of large luxury yachts, both motor and sailing, specializing in steel and aluminum.

Escape S was successfully launched in 2005.
