Job Summary
Provides secretarial duties including, but not limited to, maintenance of files, transcript of reports, correspondence, department purchasing, patient scheduling, patient reception, department billing and other matters of concern, as directed by the Business Coordinator, to ensure efficient operation of the department.
Core Job Responsibilities
Answers the telephone within 3 rings in a professional and courteous manner identifying the department and self with no more than 5 deficiencies per year as observed or through staff input.
Records accurate and complete telephone messages with less than 6 unclear messages per year as observed or through staff input.
Distributes incoming mail and messages to the staff with no more than 5 deficiencies per year as observed or through staff input.
Communicates all messages accurately to department staff in a professional, courteous and accurate manner, with no more that 3 complaints per year, as observed or through staff input.
Coordinates scheduling of rehabilitation patients with other departments within 8 hours of receiving referral, with no more than 5 deficiencies per year, seeking the Business Coordinator, Team Leader, and/or department director/supervisor/therapist's input as necessary.
Compiles and/or reviews patient chart ensuring all required information is completed and correct on appointment day
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
High School Graduate with a certificate from a secretarial program or equivalent experience.
Two years experience preferred
Experience with billing and insurance preferred
Knowledge of Medical terminology.
Ability to type 40 words per minute.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
