PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for performing engineering and technical tasks, under general supervision, in support of nuclear plant operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Perform engineering and technical tasks as assigned by supervision applying general engineering principles.
* Assure all engineering products prepared are in accordance with applicable safety analyses, industry codes, engineering specifications and all regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.

The Design Civil/StructuralEngineer serves as a member of the Mechanical/Structural Design Engineering Unit at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. This group serves as the owners of the design and licensing basis for the station.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Prepare engineering change packages for modifications to the station, including design drawings, vendor drawings, specifications, and other applicable documents
Maintain civil and structural calculations up to date
Assist in developing solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance
Prepare technical reports and presentations on engineering technical issues as needed
Support problem identification and resolution using the Corrective Action Program
Perform walkdowns for monitoring of plant structures
Ensure changes to the design requirements are identified, documented, controlled, evaluated, and approved
Manage and complete assigned activities to support timely implementation for required plant operations
Maintain the plant design and licensing basis complying with industry standards and regulations
Participating in Problem Solving and Decision-Making teams, troubleshooting efforts and developing repair strategies for plant equipment as necessary

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural) from an ABET-accredited institution (or international equivalent) is required
10 - 15 years of experience is preferred
All levels of experience will be considered; previous engineering experience in the nuclear industry is highly desired
Possession of Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain a PE highly desired
Knowledge of AISC and ACI Codes required
Must possess sound research, analytical and technical abilities

Job Summary:
KDM Engineering is searching for a Senior Civil Engineer with a Professional Engineer license, preferably with experience in the utility or transportation industry.
Job responsibilities:
Act as part of a project team consisting of professional engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of all facets of civil engineering.
Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of civil engineering related issues.
Act as a team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of civil engineering work.
Prepare, review and/or approve proposals, contracts or cost estimates.
Negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients.
Perform and/or oversee designs for underground and overhead powers installations.
Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
Interface with vendors to prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications for client recommendations.
Research available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to utilize for the execution of required project designs.
Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements.
Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in chemical, civil, environmental, sanitary or structural engineering.

Candidates so admitted, who are successful in the examination process, may not be appointed until evidence is provided that the requirements were fulfilled by the anticipation date. A four-year accredited college or university is interpreted to mean accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Effective October 31, 2006, foreign-educated applicants must produce a satisfactory assessment of their academic qualifications by the Center for Professional Engineering Education Services (CPEES), a unit of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) or present an undergraduate degree from a school that is recognized by the Washington Accord. Prior to October 31, 2006, assessment by the Engineering Credentials Evaluation International (ECEI) was deemed qualifying. The NCEES assessment and any additional coursework used to correct deficiencies must be completed by the anticipation date. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois or another state will be accepted in lieu of an assessment for foreign-educated applicants.
Examination: The examination will consist of a Training and Experience evaluation (T&E) weighted 100%. The minimum passing score on the training and experience evaluation will be 70% unless determined otherwise by the Director of Human Resources.
