Primary Purpose of Position Performs advanced regulatory/licensing/technical problem solving and provides analysis/insights in support of department, nuclear plant and fleet regulatory activities. Responsible for regulatory/technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations as well as Constellation licensing and regulatory processes. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Provide in-depth regulatory/technical expertise to develop, manage and implement regulatory analyses, activities and programs. Provide regulatory/technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve regulatory issues. Provide complete task management of regulatory issues. Perform regulatory and department related tasks as assigned by supervision Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper licensing basis management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures, regulations and codes are used in preparation of products. Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of regulatory/technical projects and programs. Recommend new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify operation, reduce costs, reduce regulatory burden, correct regulatory non-compliances, or comply with changes in codes or regulations. Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management or pursuant to company policy, including but not limited to emergency response, departmental coverage, call outs, and support of outage activities in positions outside the department. Fault location for trip and reclose of 34kV line operations is generally provided on the next business day. * Provide guidance to transmission and distribution operations, field testing group, and others on system alarm conditions, degraded protection conditions, event analysis, etc. * Review and analyze protective relay event records to determine fault type and protective relay performance. Provide recommendations and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness. * Provide system event information to support power quality investigations related to customer complaints. Provide system event information to support claims department investigations. * Utilize PI (SCADA Historian) to observe pre/post event system data and analyze events. * From relay target data and equipment operations, evaluate protection and equipment performance for the event. Primary Purpose Transmission & Substation (T&S) Standards are responsible for maintaining and developing new standards and engineering practices that ensure standardized, efficient, safe, and cost-effective designs. This position is responsible for Transmission & Substation SCADA Engineering Design Standards including voltages of 765kV, 345kV, 138kV, 69kV, 34kV, 12kV, and 4kV. T&S Standards include Engineering Practices, Engineering Standard Practices, Material Specifications, Construction Specifications and Generic Design Drawings. This consists of various responsibilities including reviewing, updating, and facilitating the development of T&S design standards, while working closely with the T&S groups to ensure effective standard implementation. Provides technical expertise to strategic, legislative and operational decisions. This position collaborates with the other Exelon companies and is involved in creating, updating, and applying internal/industry design standards and technology in a specialized area of expertise. Trains and mentors others. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. PLEASE NOTE: This position may provide relocation for eligible applicants on a case-to-case basis Primary Duties * Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for a specific class of T&S Standards including Engineering Practices, Engineering Standard Practices, Material Specifications, Construction Specifications and Generic Design Drawings: Transmission & Substation SCADA Engineering Standards * Point of Contact for technical questions related to material application and design standards. * Works with Vendors on material design improvements and implementation * Collaborates with Equipment Specialists, Relay & Protection, Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Capacity Planning, Transmission Planning, Testing & Commissioning Engineering, field groups, etc. to set the design and material standards and applications while ensuring safety, effectiveness, and constructability of standards. * Perform assignments while acting independently and may lead multi-discipline teams. * Provides recommendations for management and implements action plans to improve reliability. * Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and/or guidance to others. * Interface with applicable industry groups such as IEEE, EPRI, EEI, MEA, etc. to introduce new design improvements and materials. * Investigate common points of failure modes and trends for the purpose of material or design standard improvements as well as supporting the analysis of extent of condition Job Scope * Influences project decisions having a significant impact on the company. * Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3) Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices * Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems. * Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory. * Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise. * 7+ years of professional engineering experience (1) (3) (See Note 3. Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise. * Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues. * Minimum of three related career experiences (4) (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR * Lead Member of a recognized industry committee OR * Professional Engineer's License (2), advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification (1) Master's degree in Engineering reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year.
