This role will begin as a contingent position with the potential to transition to a permanent position.
The ConstructionEngineer will support EPC operation related engineering concerns and general guidance on best practices as observed from start of construction to end of SOLV's warranty period.
This role is fully remote with up to 50% travel required. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Facilitate an open flow of communication between operations and engineering partners. To provide more transparency to what is and is not working during operations and potential remediations.
Be the POC for operations to present engineering concerns, and work with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to understand and communicate reasoning behind design methodology and provide engineered solutions to operation concerns.
Assist the operation team with engineering related construction RFI's, internal and external during the construction phase of a project.
Exhibit urgency in resolving RFI's, and other operations concerns.
Know and understand all project specific design requirements (SOLV Energy requirements, client/contract requirements, and permit requirements).
Develop and maintain good relationships with site teams - Superintendents, Foreman, Project Management, etc.
Ensure sufficient knowledge of the SOLV EPC Contract to be able to support operations and assist in confirming SOLV is compliant with the EPC Contract.
Direct the implementation of autonomous pile driving systems to ensure SOLV fully captures material, labor, and schedule savings associated with terrain following racking systems.
Assist the operation team with more engineering intensive clients (and client's engineer/independent engineer).
Guiding project teams through design comments with consultants.
Assist the warranty team with confirmation of responsibility as it relates to manufacturer failures, compromised design, and installation errors.
Develop and lead project specific training for project team personnel (Project Management and Field Teams) in the use of GPS enabled pile drivers and associated software and internal proprietary tools where applicable.
Support SOLV Energy's development of continuous construction monitoring using drone technology.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or related field of study preferred
1 - 5 years of construction/engineering related experience preferred
Excellent written communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Aptitude for problem solving, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel
Exposure in CAD/GIS and aptitude for proficiency in these and other engineering software
Ability to read and understand project drawings, and specifications
Field experience preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Occasional exposure to weather, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals
Constant ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, and talk, and possess depth perception

Assesses catastrophic exposures (windstorm, flood, earthquake, wildfire, convective storm) and develops site-specific mitigation plans (e.g., hurricane readiness, flood emergency action, crane weather protocols, tie-down/securement, winterization/freeze protection).
Creates service plans and stewardship agendas for programs and high-value projects, documenting baseline metrics and goals (e.g., water intrusion events, hot work compliance, impairment frequency, recommendation closure rates) to track reduction in loss frequency/severity and demonstrate the value of the Builders' Risk partnership.

Essential Functions
Builds and maintains relationships with local subcontractor and other partners to manage OSP crews' activity - accomplishing required work safely, on time & within budget.
Tracks crew progress and reports on it to internal teams, picking up whatever is required & delivering critical information to ensure leadership understands real-time job progress.

Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower class of Junior Engineer. Incumbents of this class perform the moderately difficult professional engineering work in civil engineering. Assistant Civil Engineers are normally considered to be of a continuing training status and as assigned responsibilities and breadth of knowledge increase with experience, and registration is received, may reasonably expect their positions to be reassigned to the next higher class of Associate Civil Engineer.
Associate Civil Engineer
This is the full journey level class in the civil engineering series requiring registration. Positions in the class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower class of Assistant Civil Engineer, or, when filled from the outside, require prior advanced professional civil engineering work experience. An Associate Civil Engineer works under general supervision and is expected to complete complex civil engineering assignments requiring the use of judgment and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments. Work in this class is distinguished from that of the Assistant Civil Engineer class by the greater complexity of the assignments received and by the greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to operate.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Direction is provided by a higher level professional engineer or a division head level position. Responsibilities of an Associate Civil Engineer may include the direct or indirect supervision of lower level professional engineers and technical personnel. Responsibilities of an Assistant Civil Engineer may include the technical or functional supervision of technical personnel.Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Supervise and participate in the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of water utility, street, storm drain and sanitary sewer pump stations, street lighting, traffic signal, buildings, and related public works and City building projects; research project design requirements; perform complex calculations and prepare estimates of material costs and time considerations.
* Assign routine inspection, investigation, design, and drafting tasks to technical subordinates; review completed work; assist in the solution of difficult problems.
* Research building codes, publications and industry information sources.
* Develop and revise design and construction standards.
* Participate in the implementation of the City's traffic and transportation engineering programs; prepare and revise plans and specifications for traffic related projects; prepare special studies and reports and coordinate major projects.
* Participate in the City's Building Code Compliance program.
* Investigate field problems affecting property owners, contractors, and maintenance operations.
* Order survey, mapping, and data collection.
* Prepare estimates and feasibility reports for new or modified services and structures.
* Administer contracts for construction projects.
* Participate in the plan check, review, and processing of plans for private developments affecting streets, sewers, drains and related public works facilities and ensure that they meet all City imposed requirements.
* Check building plans for compliance with City building codes and ordinances.
* Prepare special engineering studies and reports.
* Serve as staff to a variety of City commissions, boards, and committees on public works, utility matters, or building code appeals issues.
* Coordinate planning, design, and construction activities with other City departments, divisions, and sections, and with outside agencies.
* May supervise, train, and evaluate lower level professional, technical and clerical subordinates.
* Other related duties may also be performed; not all duties listed may necessarily be performed by each individual holding this classification.
Assistant Civil Engineer
Knowledge of:
* Principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to public works, utilities, traffic, or building construction projects.
* Methods, materials, and techniques used in the construction of public works, building and utilities projects.
* Modern developments, current literature and sources of information regarding civil engineering and building codes and ordinances.
Ability to:
* Make complex engineering computations and to check, design, and supervise the preparation of engineering plans and studies.
* Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
* Use and care for engineering and drafting instruments and equipment.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

One year of experience in professional civil engineering work in one of the areas of assignments and
Education
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in civil engineering.

Associate Civil Engineer
