The mechanic will work on heavy equipment, concrete pumps, trowel machines, paving machines, saws, and other various pieces of heavy and small engine equipment related to placing and finishing concrete.
Responsibilities
:
- Assist the main mechanic in coordinating the repair and replacement of mechanical parts.
- Must have basic mechanical knowledge.
- Repair and replace equipment worn parts.
- Assist in repairing and replacing portable generators parts.
- Assist in inspecting machines, heavy equipment and diagnose defects.
- Assist to test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Assist to fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Requirements:
- 1-year mechanic assisting in diagnosing and repairing. Knowledge in diesel and 2 and 4 cycle gasoline engines, generators, and hydraulic systems is a plus.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods of time up to ten (10) hours per day.

As a licensed and trained automotive and heavy equipment mechanic, you will perform a variety of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties for a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. The equipment is powered by gasoline or diesel engines. You are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of our fleet and equipment to perform these operations and services, directly resulting in public safety.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
* Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment
Mechanic Trainee program; or
* Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of
automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of
experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 3; or
* An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Necessary Special Requirements:
* Certification as a Pennsylvania Official Certified Motor Vehicle Inspection Mechanic. Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction removed.
* You must possess an active Pennsylvania Class 1, Class 4, or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during the probationary period.
Post Employment Requirement:
* Employee must obtain a Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during the probationary period and continuously maintain it while employed in this job. The employee must pass the New Mechanic Training during the probationary period. If the employee does not have a Class 7 (or Class 4) Inspection License, they must obtain one during the probationary period and it must be continuously maintained while employed in this job.
* You must obtain a refrigerant certification, no compressed natural gas required.

* You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- Rebuild and maintain construction equipment, such as cranes, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, bulldozers, loaders, pump compressors and pneumatic tools.
- Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Replace defective engines and subassemblies such as transmissions.
- Weld broken parts and structural members.
- Must be able to read and comprehend repair manuals.
