Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The Mechanic must be physically capable of performing tasks that require standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods. They must be able to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. The role involves working in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, noise, and potentially hazardous fumes or chemicals. Mechanics must be able to operate hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and heavy machinery safely and efficiently. Physical stamina is essential for performing repetitive and strenuous tasks throughout the workday. Additionally, the position requires sufficient hand dexterity, as well as adequate vision and hearing, to perform precise mechanical and diagnostic work. Qualifications A CDL will be considered preferred, but is not required Must be willing to obtain a CDL within six months of the date of hire Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. With the guidance from the Fleet manager, mechanics service and repair all company vehicles, mowing equipment and construction equipment while operating within the budget guidelines and according to EMI standard operating procedures. Job duties may include fluid and filter change, brakes, tune ups, suspension work, welding, and vehicle electrical work. The mechanic should possess the ability to diagnose problems, document work and have reasonable verbal communication skills. Must possess a valid driver license and the working knowledge of basic hand tools. Responsible for vehicle operation, equipment operation and adherence to EMI established safety procedures.
