This role is ideal for someone early in their construction career who is ready to learn, grow, and take on estimating responsibilities within a supportive, employee-owned company. Some prior experience in construction or estimating is preferred experience in paint estimating is a plus.
About the Role
In this position, you will work closely with our New Construction Team to assist with estimating tasks such as takeoffs, pricing, proposal preparation, and project documentation and follow up. You will provide essential support to ensure our new construction projects are accurately scoped and competitively bid. This role offers hands-on skill development and a clear growth path into an Estimator role.
What You'll Do
Assist the New Construction Team with quantity takeoffs, measurements, and scope reviews
Support the preparation of estimates, pricing, and bid proposals
Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and addendums
Communicate with general contractors, vendors, and internal operations staff
Help maintain bid calendars, project tracking, and organized documentation
Participate in handoff meetings to ensure accurate project transitions
Learn MPC's systems, software tools, and best practices for constructionestimating

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management, or a related field
5+ years of progressive experience managing commercial construction projects (data center experience strongly preferred)
Experience with lean construction methodologies and field-driven execution models
Familiarity with project delivery methods including IPD, Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build
Understanding of various contract types including lump sum, CM-at-Risk, and GMP
Competence in CPM scheduling, cost estimation, proposal generation, and contract administration
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and industry-standard construction applications
Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and data center infrastructure design
Exceptional leadership, team-building, and communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and lead teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Ability to travel as needed (up to 50% on occasion)

**A DAY IN THE LIFE**
A Co-op is an amazing experience where the student stays with ARCO for 6-8 months full time. The student will need to take the semester off school or reach out to their career services about their Co-op requirements. At ARCO, a Co-op has the opportunity to assist Project Managers with the following:
+ **Estimating -** Describing project proposals and assigning dollar values to the projects
+ **Scheduling -** Creating a working timeline for subcontractors/trades in order to complete the project on time
+ **Design meetings -** Attend design meetings with owner and team to understand design pro structural engineers, architects
+ **Buyout -** Send bid instructions, schedule, and drawings to subcontractors. Receive and evaluate proposals, then award the subcontracts
+ **Permitting** - Fill out permit forms, submit forms with drawings and fees, then send to city/county/fire and wait for approval
+ **Shop Drawing and Submittal Review** - Receive shop drawing or submittal from subcontractor, give to PM, communicate to subcontractor that they can begin ordering material and working
+ **Billing** - Subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications
+ **Job Site Visits -** Visit job site with PM, make sure project is running smoothly
**NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Enrolled in Civil/Mechanical/Architectural or Construction Management Bachelor's degree program
+ Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0
+ Previous Internship or Co-op construction experience preferred
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic

· Support the estimating department in bidding as needed
· Set up the project through internal accounting procedures
· Establish and maintain a working relationship with the customer. Identify and cultivate new opportunities through relationships
· Develop and maintain a project schedule within the contract
· Review subcontractor bids for completeness
· Issue purchase orders to subcontractors and for necessary materials
· Read blueprints and complete material takeoffs as applicable
· Maintain project budget
· Ensure timely completion of project
· Serve as mentor and manager to Project Coordinator(s) this includes hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating performance
· Constant communication with site superintendents to ensure successful project completion
· Typical project range $200,000 - $1M (on average). May manage 4 - 6 projects at a time (depends on size, timing, etc.)
· Occasional driving of company vehicle to client sites

Requirements:
· Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
· 5+ years of construction project management experience, preferably in Commercial Construction
· Supervisory / leadership skills

· Travel within US to site visits approximately 20-30% of the time.
