Must have relevant Ironworking experience. Aerotek is hiring Ironworker immediately . Candidates will be required to travel sporadically. $23-$28/hr. Per Diem provided. If qualified, please email your resume to for immediate consideration.

Description:

The employee must have the basic knowledge and skills to fabricate, install and assemble structural steel.

They will be fabricating and erecting platforms, catwalks, stairs, handrails, beams, columns, plates, panels, and more.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Accurately interpret and apply information from drawings, specifications, or other documents and recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application.

• Identify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for the job.

• Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques.

• Select and safely use appropriate equipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, fork lifts, and company trucks.

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices.

• Identify, explain and perform crane hand signals.

• Identify and recognize components of structural systems.

• Demonstrate ability to accurately layout and fabricate structural iron.

• Demonstrate ability to locate and mark reference points for structural components on foundation using master straightedge, square, transit, builder's levels and measuring tape.

• Align structure or plates to be assembled on boiler frames, tanks, or structures, using plumb bobs, wedges, dogs or turnbuckles.

• Demonstrate appropriate techniques in handling sections or structural parts in order to facilitate fitting edges together.

• Bolt or weld equipment sections using approved materials and procedures such as stacks, chutes, ladders, catwalks, etc.

Essential Responsibilities:
Stick build steel erection for structural steel building and structural steel panelization Bolt up and impacting Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the lay out of work Position steel units, align holes, and insert temporary bolts while checking alignments and joining steel parts Heavy lift, rigging and setting of building modules Ensures the safety of the crew, equipment, and environment Ensures that work is completed during regular hours

Qualifications:
Must possess a Journeyperson Ironworker certification with a recognized provincial training authority Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing Ledcor requires possession of OSSA Regional with CSTS/BSO or CSO, Fall ProtectionEWP and Confined Space are an asset Must have basic Ironworker tools Must be fully vaccinated and provide valid COVID-19 vaccination record (unless you have a legitimate recognized medical or religious reason for not getting vaccinated), or agree to submit to testing requirements

Work Conditions:
Long term projects, site based camp provided Charter Flights from either Edmonton or Calgary, or travel allowance for out-of-province candidates who qualify Benefits provided by CLAC

Job Summary

+ Install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment, fabricate and assemble structural steel and sheet metal products, according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in industrial establishment, using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools.

+ Unload and position by appropriate methods prefacticated steel components for hoisting as required.

+ Fabricate metal parts such as frames, columns, beams, girders according to instructions or blueprints using appropriate tools an building materials.

+ Cut and weld using appropriate methods and tools.

Primary Job Duties

+ Read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

+ Dismantle machines, structures and equipment using appropriate tools.

+ Move machinery and equipment using appropriate tools.

+ Assemble and install machinery and equipment using appropriate tools.

+ Construct foundation for machines using appropriate tools and building materials.

+ Align machines and equipment using appropriate tools.

+ Assemble machines and equipment and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures using appropriate methods, materials and tools.

+ May repair and lubricate machines and equipment.

+ Read and interpret safety information, signage and instructions.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Workers should be able to work within precise standards of accuracy; rate information using standards which can be measured or checked; compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; look at flat drawings or pictures and understand who they would look as solid objects; and follow oral and written directions, plans and blueprints.

+ Physically, workers must be able to: See well (either naturally or with correction); coordinate the movement of eyes, hands and fingers.

+ Use hands, arms and fully - climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stoop, kneel crouch, crawl or work at heights as required and lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
