Job Description
AZZ has an exciting 1st shift opportunity for a General Laborer at our Chelsea facility. Reporting to the Production Supervisor you will help handle and clean material through the galvanizing process, to help us meet customer commitments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for tying or assisting with tying material onto racks with wire or chain for safe movement through the galvanizing process.
Use wire to tie material to bow racks, universal racks, or other tooling to prepare for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for the galvanizing process.
Use rope to lift and prepare material for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for galvanizing process.
Operates and visually inspects all equipment (i.e. forklifts, cranes, tooling, etc.) prior to usage to ensure no maintenance is needed.
Learns to rack a variety of materials by assisting others.
Racks, unracks or cleans material in order as directed.
May learn to use a torch to dry materials before hot dipping.
May clean material using a grinder, file, or brush as specified by the customer.
Inspects material for sags, runs, drips, bare spots and reports it to management.
Uses bolt cutters to remove wire from product and tooling and disposes of it per established procedures.
Learns to inspect materials for holes, smothered spots, etc.
Perform housekeeping activities to keep production area and equipment clean and organized.
Confers with supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production or customer problems by form of damage or quality issues.
May assist with training new production helpers as specified by management.
Required to wear protective equipment, follow safety rules and all company policies and procedures
Qualifications
1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled facility
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience utilizing hand tools is

We are looking for highly driven individuals that will prepare products and materials for the galvanizing process by hanging angle on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing.
**Essential Functions**
+ Inspect and ensure the safe use and disposition of production fixtures, chains and hooks
+ Hand wire small to medium-sized parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing
+ Pull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for racking
+ Move lightweight pieces of steel by hand from different locations in the plant and yard
+ Perform paddling functions to enhance the quality level of the various galvanized products using air guns to blow off zinc needles
+ Use air or electric powered tools to help prepare or clean up steel for pickling or galvanizing
+ Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping
+ Work safely, protecting self and others from accident and injury
**Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:**
+ The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
+ The ability to accurately read a tape measure
+ The ability to communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision
+ The ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height or higher

Position Summary
As a general laborer you will be responsible for assembling, assisting, and completing various tasks or objects to ensure that results will be the best quality. This role offers a direct path for advancement within the company.
Essential Job Functions
Assemble signal arms and fixtures on power poles prior to them being set.
Assist with setting poles, structures, and power foundations.
Shovel rock, tamp poles, and tamp trenches.
Glue pipe and pull wire in conduit.
Tying of steel cages.
Assist in concrete pours and finishing.
Load, unload, and haul materials and equipment.
All other duties as assigned.

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the General Shop Help position in our Claremore Oklahoma Coatings Division. We are looking for highly driven individuals that will prepare products and materials for the galvanizing process by hanging angle on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing.
Essential Functions
Inspect and ensure the safe use and disposition of production fixtures, chains and hooks
Hand wire small to medium-sized parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing
Pull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for racking
Move lightweight pieces of steel by hand from different locations in the plant and yard
Perform paddling functions to enhance the quality level of the various galvanized products using air guns to blow off zinc needles
Use air or electric powered tools to help prepare or clean up steel for pickling or galvanizing
Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping
Work safely, protecting self and others from accident and injury
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:
The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
The ability to accurately read a tape measure
The ability to communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height or higher
Must be a physically able to stand for long periods of time (length of shift) in open air environment; wear PPE; maintain safe work environment
Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Six months of previous experience in a galvanizing position
Six months of previous experience with hand tools and gauges including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, taps, oxygen acetylene torches, and mill gauges
Six months of previous experience operating a bridge crane
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
Certification of heavy equipment operation including forklift
