General Laborer Pay: $25.80 Shifts: 12 hour shifts: 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am (rotating) as well as rotating 8 hour shifts during the probationary period. The pay increases to $26.80 after 60 days worked (probation) and 27.80/hour. after six months of employment.
Employees have the potential of earning $70,000 in their first year. Employees receive shift differential and double time on Sundays.

While reporting to the Shift Supervisor as the General Laborer, you will be responsible for supporting the production environment within our manufacturing operations. Safety, quality, productivity, and a strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture. You will perform tasks that are necessary to provide high quality Sonoco products in a timely and efficient manner.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Collaborating closely with other departments and teams
* Making incremental process adjustments, monitoring, and reporting quality results of manufactured products.
* Utilizing critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to set up new jobs and operate various machines.
* Safely completing specific tasks that include but are not limited to:
* Operating mobile equipment, including a fork truck
* Assisting with paper breaks
* Creating parent roll
* Threading rewinder
* Separating and packaging rolls after being slit on rewinder
* Retrieving/staging roll products
* Retrieving tape and other packaging supplies
* Finishing and packaging product
* Assisting during machine maintenance outages

* Have previous paper machine operating experience (preferred) or work experience in a industrial setting requiring physical labor.
* Have previous Forklift experience (preferred).
* Have basic computer skills and can read and use measuring devices.
* Have exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
* Have proven history of success showing excellent attendance, a positive attitude, reliability and drive, quality focus, and a commitment to safety.
* Are able and available to work all shifts on a rotating schedule.

Manage safety, quality, and productivity of work at sites and yard.
Train and mentor crew members on safe and proper methods and techniques to perform assigned tasks: work with employees to deficiencies.
Work as a team with Design-Build Manager and Project Manager Supervisor and other Landscape Technicians to execute landscape maintenance projects from beginning to completion of jobs
Operate various tools, light and heavy equipment
Work as a team in maintaining all types of landscape projects including, but not limited to hardscapes, softscapes, water features, outdoor lighting, sunrooms, decks, patios, outdoor structures such as pergolas and gazebos, fencing, pools, hot tubs, various turfs including athletic courts, and more, including snow removal during the winter season
Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to complete work activities
Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction and to help grow the business
Work closely with Crew technicians to ensure the timing, materials, quality and completion of jobs meet or exceed expectations.
Establish strong working relationships with all Operation Team members to work collaboratively, ensure client expectations are met or exceeded, and contribute to a positive and proactive culture
Qualifications
3 or more years' experience in the landscape/construction industry
Knowledge and/or experience in horticulture, landscape design and/or construction, a plus
Education:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Degree in horticulture or a related field of study, or equivalent, a plus
License:
Valid driver's license required for operating VHC vehicles
CDL license, or the ability to obtain one, a plus
Physical Requirements, Skills and Characteristics:
This position requires regular heavy lifting, bending, kneeling and working outdoors in all types of weather
Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
Ability to use a smart phone or data-enable device for communication and reporting
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Desire and ability to work with people and work with your hands to create outdoor spaces of lasting beauty

This individual will be responsible for reading blueprints and directing the team from start to finish on projects. Identifying issues before they become down time while thinking outside of the box, applying new and old technology together. Your team will need to be organized while continually striving for excellence. You may have times where you are working side by side with the installation crews building walk-ins, reach-ins, running line sets, brazing, electrical etc. Managing new/existing install projects. Taking each project from start to finish, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Work closely with the Install department to ensure common issues are resolved through training.
* Work with scheduler to schedule projects on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
* Responsible for organizing manpower, proper tools and lifts to complete projects in a timely fashion.
* Ensure quality control on all completed projects and services sold through this department.
* May include jobsite meetings or monthly install meetings.
* Ensuring jobsite safety. Conducting safety meetings, ensuring the correct PPE is being worn and proper safety procedures are being followed.
* Job costing, managing each jobs material being used and not used. Working closely with operations and managing warehouse inventory.
BASIC QUALIFICIATIONS:
* Experience in the commercial and residential HVAC/R markets.
* Computer skills including spreadsheets, database and word processing.
* Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
* Desire for professional development in the industry, sales and time management.
