Responsibilities

Comprehend blueprint readings to prepare layouts including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions.

Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass and/or drywall.
·
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
·
Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and/or marking gauge.
·
Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, sanders, levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares and other hand tools to repair and erect structures.
·
Join materials with nails, screws, bolts, staples and adhesives.
·
Complete the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, install partitions, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, erect scaffolding, utilize appropriate math skills.

Check completed work units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location, and are up to code and specifications.

Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.

May perform other related duties as assigned.

UCH is seeking a professional and organized General Laborer for our properties located in University City who has a passion for cleanliness. The General Laborer will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all common areas including that WOW factor when you first walk into our properties.
General Laborer Duties include but are not limited to:
Cleans all common areas daily, including vacuuming, dusting. Common areas include, but are not limited to: lobbies, hallways, dumpster areas, grounds, bathrooms, fire towers, laundry facilities
Clean building exteriors, including picking up trash and litter, removing leaves sticks or debris, cleaning dirt & graffiti, power washing, or organizing trash areas
Pull trash daily
Replace light bulbs as necessary.
Light maintenance as required.
Bi-monthly inventory of supplies.
Clean vacant apartments.
Keep all vacant units and common areas fresh and odorless.
Performs additional duties as requested by management.
Assist in all trades and in snow removal.
Our Laborer must have the following skills:
Ability to be a team player who can work independently with minor supervision as well as part of a team
Ability to prioritize urgent projects and work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment
Strong levels of communication (both written and spoken English)

Job Title General Laborer Under direct supervision in operations, loads and unloads materials, parts, or products manually or by mechanized means. Transfers finished products and raw materials about plant and warehouse, using hand truck. Delivers production items to designated work areas for processing. Delivers processed units to storage or for the next stage of processing. Stacks processed items in warehouse. Packs products in containers. Cleans around work areas. Assists other production workers in production activities. Handles special projects, as assigned.
Essential Functions
Under direct supervision, the General Laborer is responsible for installing, removing, and washing of composite mats, installing/removing environmental containment for construction, and any other service required for T&D, pipeline, construction, and O&G industries. The use of hand and power tools may be required to ensure proper installation of containment and mats on customer sites. All tools must be maintained and utilized in the proper manner, informing management of any issues. General Laborers are also responsible for the safe use of equipment on site including the cleanliness of worksite and fleet vehicles. Position requires outside work - working in all weather conditions. May perform special projects as assigned.
- Ability to follow exact direction.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (skid steers, front end loaders).
- Must have hand tool knowledge.
- Must be able to adhere to all safety and quality procedures - all related OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and DOT safety rules and regulations in concurrence with NPK Policies and Procedures.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills required to work in a team environment.
- Must have the willingness to travel (includes overnights) and the ability to work a flexible schedule (day, night, weekends and/or holidays) and ability to be on call - attendance, punctuality and timeliness is a must.
- Ability to assist with installing/removing mats - liner experience preferred but not required.
- Valid DL.
- PEC Safeland preferred.
- Construction and Transmission & Distribution experience preferred.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check and drug screen/physical.
Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or educational equivalent. Entry level. Basic knowledge of mechanical operating procedures and processes. Good analytical skills.
