Old Town Design Group is seeking a Construction Assistant to join our team in Carmel, IN. FUNCTION
The Construction Assistant will assist the Construction Manager in ensuring the quality of each Old Town build; adherence to the construction schedule and job readiness; job site cleanliness; completion of punch list items; jobsite safety; and facilitating communication as required with vendors, independent contractors and homeowners.
MISSION
The Construction Assistant will maintain the integrity of Old Town in all aspects. All responsibilities performed require extensive knowledge and understanding of all
Old Town residential and commercial standards mission and values. Candidate will possess an entrepreneurial work ethic and be able to work collaboratively with other Old Town team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Construction Manager in managing and maintaining an accurate construction schedule ensuring 100% job readiness for vendors and independent contractors
Perform quality inspections and complete job checklists in adherence with established company quality standards and expectations as directed by the Construction Manager
Field and assist the Construction Manager in answering questions from vendors and independent contractors
Ensure completion of punch list items as assigned to vendors and independent contractors or as assigned directly from Construction Manager
Maintain job site cleanliness per company standards and expectations including but not limited to holding vendors and independent contractors accountable for cleanliness and self-performing general job site cleanliness work such as sweeping and power washing
Set up customer material storage areas in basement and ensure that extra material for potential repairs and touch-ups are kept and organized
Facilitate appropriate responses to homeowner questions that may be presented
Assist the Construction Manger with all homeowner meetings as directed
Monitor job site safety and proactively address any potential unsafe operations or conditions
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to read construction drawings and technical manuals
Ability to perform minor punch items
Clean background and driving record
Self-starter who can work well both as part of a team and independently
Willingness to contribute when and where needed, to work with other team members to ensure all functions are completed in an efficient and timely manner.

What You'll Do:
Repair various types of sewer lines by using a specific product and process
Ensure pull-in tube is properly prepared for installation by examining D-Rings, chains, and attachment to pulling cable
Install prepared tube using a winch, backhoe, crane, or other appropriate material
Monitor gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly
Cure resin products using an inflation tube, banding boots, layflat, boiler hose, etc.
Learn / train on Insituform's products, processes, safety procedures, installation techniques, and equipment
Drive various vehicles (pickup trucks to tractor-trailer rigs) to haul crews and equipment

What We Need From You:

Experience as a Construction Laborer and / or Installation Technician highly preferred
OSHA certifications are a plus
Valid driver's license required with clean motor vehicle report
Must possess a Class A or B CDL and be aligned with Insituform's motor vehicle standards (Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not required)
Must be able to wear a respirator and body harness while entering confined spaces
Ability to lift / move up to 75 pounds and use pneumatic, battery-powered, or electric tools
Comfortable working outside at job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations, with occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
Must be able to travel weekly (potentially out of state)

The Foreman coordinates tasks and assignments based on work priority, schedules, objectives, and workforce availability. The Foreman monitors the progress of a project and keeps it on track from a time and budgetary standpoint. Job Responsibilities of Foreman:
Leads a high-performance team serving customers in a local market/area.
Reviews job specifications to determine materials, tools, and equipment needed prior to reporting to the job site.
Assesses conditions of the job once on-site; sets forth plans based on time allotment, tools needed, and order of work - assign duties to your crew for work to be performed.
Installs products and services with the support of a national team of trained professionals.
Innovates and troubleshoots situations as needed based on requirements to complete the job to meet company standards and timetables.
Provides customers with superior quality and service while onsite performing work.
Ensures all final documentation is done completely/accurately and is given to the proper parties.
Supervises the crew and provides on-the-job training to Installers and Co-Foreman
Drives the company-provided vehicle to and from the job site daily.
What is required to join our team as a Foreman:
Strong communication skills, ability to motivate, and be a team player.
Experience leading crews or small teams
Basic construction or mechanical knowledge
Must have a valid, non-restrictive driver's license.
Enters crawl spaces and other confined areas
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Physical requirements:
The position lifts heavy objects and/or up to 50 lbs., walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor.
The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively lifts and carries heavy loads.
The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand and arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. It also requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
The employee must have excellent stamina.
Seeing with the ability to read reports, data, statistics and information on computer screens are required.
