Construction Laborer
ARG Ceres JV
Construction labour job in Toa Baja, PR
Job Title: Construction Laborer
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Compensation Range: $11 - $13 hourly
ARG Precision Corporation (ARG) was founded in 1996 under the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It was created to address the industry's demand for power generation services on the island and the struggle to find local companies that could offer this type of service. The objective was to build this company, committed to satisfying the needs of the Power Generation Industry and being the first option of our clients.
ARG/Ceres JV operating under the name of Hyperion Power Solutions was formed in 2023 (Ceres majority control), becoming a leader in construction in the Power Generation Industry in Puerto Rico. The extensive experience of ARG/Ceres JV engineers in the field, more than 25 years, has led the company to an honorable status among our clients. This experience provides a full range of comprehensive services tailored to the client's needs. Being at the forefront of technology allows ARG/Ceres JV to provide unparalleled technical expertise that is essential to addressing the complex requirements of today's projects.
At Hyperion Power Solutions, we believe you're more than just an employee; you're part of a team with a purpose and a meaningful mission -- to deliver reliable, innovative, and sustainable power solutions that strengthen Puerto Rico's energy infrastructure and support the communities we serve.
We value initiative, respect diversity, and give our people the freedom to lead. We offer competitive pay, travel opportunities, and a culture built on resilience and teamwork. If you show up with compassion, share the commitment, react with urgency, and deliver solutions, you'll fit right in. We don't just respond to challenges, we rise to them.
What We Are Looking For
The Construction Laborer plays a vital hands-on role in supporting the build-out and maintenance of power generation facilities across Puerto Rico, reporting directly to the Site Supervisor within project-specific field teams. This position does not involve managing people but focuses on executing physical tasks that ensure safe, timely, and high-quality completion of construction activities.
Success in the first 12 months looks like consistently demonstrating reliability on the job site, mastering core labor tasks with minimal supervision, achieving zero safety incidents, contributing to on-schedule project milestones, and earning recognition from supervisors for teamwork and work ethic.
What You Will Do
Assist in the preparation of construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and setting up temporary structures.
Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated work areas.
Operate hand and power tools, such as shovels, hammers, drills, and saws, to support skilled trades.
Support concrete work by mixing, pouring, and finishing materials under the direction of supervisors.
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary supports in compliance with safety standards.
Perform demolition tasks, including breaking up concrete, removing old structures, and disposing of waste properly.
Maintain a clean and organized job site by removing hazards and ensuring proper storage of materials.
Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and participate in daily safety briefings.
Collaborate with team members and skilled trades to complete tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines.
Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or material shortages to the Site Supervisor immediately.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience in construction labor or a related manual labor field.
Proven ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments for extended periods.
Knowledge of basic construction tools and safety practices.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification.
Experience in construction projects.
Basic bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
Forklift or heavy equipment operation certification.
What to Expect
As a Construction Laborer at Hyperion Power Solutions, expect a fast-paced, physically demanding role centered on fieldwork at power generation construction sites across Puerto Rico, often involving early morning starts (7 AM) You'll report to the Supervisor within small field teams, focusing on hands-on tasks like site preparation, material handling, tool operation, concrete support, scaffolding setup, demolition, and cleanup, without managing others but collaborating closely with skilled trades to hit milestones. Work occurs outdoors in variable conditions-heat, humidity, rain, or wind-with regular travel to sites island-wide, including overnight stays and per diem for remote assignments. Safety is non-negotiable: daily briefings, mandatory PPE (hard hats, steel-toed boots, eyewear), and strict protocols drive a zero-incident culture. The environment fosters resilience and urgency, with success in the first year marked by reliable attendance, independent task mastery, no safety violations, and team contributions to on-time deliverables. While demanding, the role offers purpose-driven impact on Puerto Rico's energy infrastructure and growth into specialized skills through on-the-job training.
Physical Requirements and Environment
Ceres provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and to applicants with sincerely held religious beliefs, as required by law. The physical requirements listed below reflect the essential functions of this role. If you need accommodation to perform these functions, please inform us during the application process.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus where required to safely perform the job.
Willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, etc. in jobs that require PPE.
Ability to work in adverse weather/field conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, exposure to mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and loud noise levels.
Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.
Why Join Hyperion Power Solutions?
At Hyperion, you won't just have a job, you'll have a mission. Your work will directly strengthen Puerto Rico's energy infrastructure and power the growth of its communities.
We offer:
