Office Engineer
Electrical Field Inspector
Candidates will provide engineering support for programming and construction activities related to transit revitalization efforts. Delon Hampton & Associates is seeking to fill four (4) positions, see below:
Project Coordinator (Position 1)
Responsibilities:
Monitor project activities and report on the progress of pre-procurement, procurement, pre-construction, design support, and construction activities;
Monitor projects' key performance indicators and maintain a dashboard reporting tool;
Prepare correspondence, memoranda, action lists, and presentation slides related to the program;
Coordinate scopes of work and work packages among internal team members, assist in the preparation of construction schedules, and prepare supporting correspondence for the Task Manager's approval;
Coordinate access/crew support requests with stakeholders;
Assist with preparation of project status reports to identify progress and monitor the project schedule, budget, and staffing plan;
Assist with financial reporting and documentation tasks;
Assist on a continual basis in the analyses and appraisals of the current status and forecasts of project activity vis-a-vis time, cost, and quantity criteria to ensure completion of the project on time and within budget;
Assist on a continual basis in the overall administration activities related to the planning, design, and construction/implementation phases and provide reports as required;
Prepare or request documents, construction or implementation progress, and status reports and other relevant data for projects; and
Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or in a related field is preferred (in lieu of a degree, a minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in a related field, of which two (2) years shall be in the transportation industry);
Demonstrated experience with the coordination of large projects with complex schedules and budget;
Familiarity with clients standard processes and procedures is preferred; and
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore.
Construction Engineers - Electrical (Position 2)
Provide electrical engineering support to engineering and field personnel during construction, equipment inspection, and replacement;
Coordinate and develop electrical-related scopes of work, work packages, and construction schedules;
Participate in surveys and field data collection, and maintain data organized in file structures and spreadsheets;
Prepare technical documents for the client's project record documents, including as-built plans, drawings, and schematics;
Perform site visits, and participate in progress meetings to monitor project progress, quality control, testing, and acceptance of the equipment and systems; and
Monitor implementation of construction activities, per program schedule, scope and budget.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred;
A minimum of ten (10) years of construction or related electrical-engineering experience, with at least two (2) of the ten (10) years in the transit industry;
Familiarity with the clients design criteria and standards is preferred;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (all applications);
Physical ability to access any of the locations and perform a hands-on inspection, if required;
Must be able to complete RWP certification class;
Must have previous field experience; and
OSHA 10-hour (Construction) certification.
Office Engineer (Position 3)
Responsibilities:
Maintain full familiarity with plans, specifications, construction schedules, and contractor's plans on assigned contracts, the Project Management Plan (PMP), and current safety regulations in order to be knowledgeable of the project team responsibilities, disseminating such information to office and field staff as required to keep client's personnel accurately informed of relevant matters;
Responsible for document control, assisting configuration management, and maintaining project records (contract documents, contractor submittals, requests for information, project logs, minutes, notices, memos, etc.);
Develop and maintain the submittal log for the contractor contracts;
Update data in the Procore system through direct input of contract-related information or uploading other data files;
Verify technical documents for client's project record, including as-built plans, drawings, and schematics that have been submitted by the contractors;
Prepare project status reports to identify progress and monitor the project schedule, budget, and staffing plan;
Maintain the contract files and project logs that include contractor correspondence, invoices and progress payments, contract changes and claims, timesheets and overtime, and cost estimates for changes to contract work, assisting the client in reviewing contractor claims to determine the merit of claims and negotiating cost and/or time adjustments based upon such claims;
Coordinate the collection of daily inspection reports from field inspectors and record lost time for the contractor, reconciling the lost time with reports from the contractor;
Support staff with the collection of contract data and documentation to resolve contract changes and claims; and
Perform other project-related duties as assigned by the Task Manager.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred (in lieu of a degree, a minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in a related field, of which two (2) years shall be in the transportation industry);
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in teams involved in the design, construction, or major repair/rehabilitation of infrastructure projects;
Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced engineering environment;
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong technical writing skills; and
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Procore.
Field Inspector - Electrical (Position 4)
Responsibilities:
Maintain full familiarity with the contract plans, specifications, schedules, safety regulations, and current shop/working drawings relative to assigned duties;
Inspect all phases of construction within the electrical work area;
Assist in developing punch lists at the completion of contract milestones and inspections of completed work;
Conduct spot checks to determine quantities of materials are installed and verify accuracy of contractor payment requests;
Perform physical measurements and field testing that may include the use of electronic or mechanical devices;
Communicate with contractors regarding expected terms of work performance, assigned work, and needed appropriate corrective steps;
Attend and document contractors' tool-box safety meetings; and
Observe work for compliance with applicable safety regulations and take appropriate action when necessary.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education is preferred;
Master Electrician license in the State in which the work is being performed;
A minimum of two (2) years demonstrable experience in construction inspection;
Demonstrable experience in electrical work inspection;
Must be able to work nights and weekends, including holidays;
Must be able to complete the clients RWP certification class;
Must be able to pass a government background check;
Must be able to work in confined spaces;
Must have reliable transportation and must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license;
May be required to travel out-of-state to conduct manufacturer inspections of facilities and witness any factory acceptance testing as required by the Quality Manager or the Task Manager;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (all applications);
Must have previous field experience; and
OSHA 30-hour (Construction) certification, in-person training.
