The ideal candidate has a strong background in fiber installation and splicing, field inspections, and project coordination with internal teams and external vendors. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage multiple fiber construction projects simultaneously across aerial, underground, small cell, and customer premises environments. Conduct independent field inspections to verify construction quality and adherence to design specifications and permit conditions. Coordinate with Fiber Engineers, Field Operations, and subcontractors for seamless project execution. Manage and communicate with external vendors, ensuring timelines, budgets, and contract deliverables are met. Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, splice schematics, and fiber testing results (OTDR, Power Meter). Prepare and manage construction bid packages; evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate project costs. Oversee the development and submission of permitting plans and coordinate closely with local and state agencies to obtain necessary licenses and approvals. Track delivery of third-party materials and ensure inventory is aligned with project needs. Maintain detailed project documentation in tracking systems (e.g., milestone updates, change orders, field audits). Serve as the on-site Quality Assurance and Safety representative, enforcing company and OSHA-compliant safety protocols. Provide regular project updates to leadership, internal stakeholders, and clients on progress, risks, and mitigation plans. Analyze and monitor construction budgets and vendor performance; resolve any discrepancies or delays impacting timeline or cost. Utilize tools like Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio) for project reporting and field documentation. Apply strong knowledge of pole/conduit licensing, municipal permitting, and utility regulations relevant to fiber deployment. Qualifications: Required: Proven experience in fiber construction, including aerial and underground builds (tower experience not applicable). Strong knowledge of OSP construction practices, fiber splicing, and fiber testing (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.). Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical schematics. Familiarity with local and state permitting processes, including pole and conduit licensing from utility companies. Field experience in audits, inspections, and photo verification of fiber construction work. Experience with construction cost estimating, vendor negotiations, and bid management. Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio), Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based project tracking tools. Understanding of construction safety regulations and standards. Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or associate's degree in Telecommunications, Construction Management, or related field preferred.     Description The MEPF Superintendent is responsible to support the General or Senior Superintendent in overseeing the MEPF areas of a construction project through technical expertise in the key areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire protection. This position may coordinate and schedule multiple construction crews, determines construction requirements, plans procedures and ensures subcontract work meets required specifications. The position will manage the inspection of work and equipment to verify quality, safety and commissioning of MEPF project operations.Responsibilities: Coordinate and manage daily field operational objectives, timelines, and goals. Monitor the overall progress of a project and work site, review processes and practices within teams to ensure consistency, efficiency and quality of delivery. Participate in the monitoring of the project schedule and budget and work with Senior Superintendents to maintain and update. Coordinate with the subcontractor's office for recovery plans where necessary, meet regularly with staff and subcontractors to discuss progress, obstacles, challenges and assist in removing barriers to completing work. Review construction documents to determine contractual requirements. Record and maintain information and produce reports such as personnel, production, project logs, status and other operational data. Manage the safety of a job site by actively walking the site, participating in inspections, training and meeting with staff and subcontractors regularly. Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications. Manage/conduct MEP pre-Installation meetings. Verify and document that all materials installed for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, work with owner and trade partners to resolve issues. Manage installation-procedures and methodology requirements making sure installation meets industry/manufacturer's requirements. Assist in needed updates to the Procore QAP (Quality Assurance Manual) manual, as well as developing new sections as we identify new scopes of work. Keep up with industry changes and regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field, make adjustments to company standards project's related sections, practices and procedures as necessary. Commit to use global means of communication to share QA related information for better outreach (i.e. memos, lessons learned). Attend classes to pursue education in order to stay abreast of industry standards and join industry groups to better self-knowledge and industry recognition. Act as a liaison between the different trades requiring power, water, conditioned air to complete their work. This would also include coordinating with all trades/project staff and owners for deliveries of major equipment, systems shutdowns. Assist with planning of work in relation to phased work and/or flow of work for the project as it relates to mechanical/electrical, plumbing and sprinkler systems. Also assist with planning of temporary power/lighting, water and any required ventilation and temporary heating and cooling. Planning may also be needed when working in existing spaces that require an ICRA plan. Assist with reviewing cost of work related to RFI's and change orders for MEP work. Assist with reviewing RFI's submitted by MEPF contractors to ensure they are complete. Assist with as-builts, which should be maintained throughout the construction. Assist with scheduling to ensure to MEPF items have adequate time to accomplish their work. Especially as in relates to long lead equipment, installation, flushing, testing and inspections and start-up of systems. Also controls and test and balance have time at the end of the project to complete their work. Ensure the work performed by the MEPF contractors adheres to the project's details and specifications. Review drawings to account for completeness between MEPS systems. Such as all mechanical equipment shown on electrical drawings, all plumbing drains coordinated with mechanical equipment and all building automated control cabinets have power. Also review ceiling drawings to ensure all fire alarm devices, exit signs, lights, diffusers and sprinkler heads are accounted for and coordinated. Review shop drawings with programmer and installer to ensure installation will meet design criteria. Work with controls to ensure we have adequate controls for temporary use of equipment for temp heat and cooling. Ensure any changes or additions to the MEPF drawings are coordinated with controls contractor. Assist with scheduling and planning of controls for start-up and operation. Work to ensure trending programming will be ready for commissioning and if any global commands for thermostat operation are needed, they are programmed up front. Review systems with each of the trades to test/troubleshoot/start-up any specialty systems such as smoke control or smoke evacuation, stairwell pressurization systems, operating room smoke control systems, fuel delivery systems for multiple generators, reverse osmosis or demineralized water systems, clean rooms, positive or negatively pressure rooms etc. Support Field Leadership and project management team to build quality in every project. Look for and mitigate risk, solve MEPF issues, teach field to become better builders. Work in concert to manage the overall MEPF coordination and complete periodic constructability reviews of the model so that even though it fits, that it's accessible and maintainable. Ensure that any necessary MEPF system changes do not detrimentally affect the operation of that system. Make sure that each trade considers when modeling, insulation thickness, hangers, radiuses, drains, clear access dimensions (no-fly zones) and overall clearances. Work closely with test and balance to ensure they are following the schedule and flow of work. Assist them with getting punch items completed in a timely manner to ensure they have time to complete their work. Coordinate with controls and fire alarm contractor to ensure there will be no conflict between each of trades work. Assist to ensure areas are clean and ready for return air balancing. Review TAB reports for completeness and accuracy. Work with commissioning (Cx) team to ensure each MEPF trade is following the Cx plan. Work to pre-commission systems with the contractors, then assist with Cx for Final Commissioning. On projects with no 3rd party Commissioning (Cx), assist team to complete in-house System Verification (Sv) Testing. Work with the fire alarm (F/A) contractor in design to ensure the “matrix” is completed and stays up to date. Then ensure any changes or additions to the MEP drawings are coordinated with fire alarm contractor. Assist with scheduling and planning of fire alarm testing. Review the F/A device location addresses. Check Fire Safety Design (FSD) operation with mechanical systems to ensure these are properly zoned by F/A contractor and assist the authority having jurisdiction during final testing.
