Superintendent
MAJOR FUNCTION
The Superintendent has the lead authority at the project site. It is his/her responsibility to manage each project assignment according to Odin's corporate philosophy of safe, quality production. While he/she may delegate tasks to others, all day-to-day activities are his/her responsibility.)
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Generally, field operations will be coordinated with the Regional Operations Manager and all other activities are coordinated with the Project Manager. Specific responsibilities are detailed below:

Onsite coordination of subcontractors which includes monitoring their progress, productivity, quantities for unit price work, and protect against claims.
Contract Administration - Since he/she is our onsite representative, he/she must have complete knowledge of the contract and all related documents. If there is ever any doubt, he/she consults with the Project Manager.
Completes all required paperwork on a timely basis - at least once per week

Extra work and claim documentation
Maintain a written project diary which will contain along with other pertinent information, the nature and extent of delays, deviations from the approved plan, and any other job site conditions such as inclement weather, labor shortages, equipment breakdowns or later material deliveries that may serve as the basis for a change order or claim
Day-to-day purchasing activities in accordance with budget restraints and company signature authority.
Be fully aware of the project budget and to work within that budget
Submit approved progress and invoice pay quantities to the Project Manager on a timely basis
Responsible for the maintenance of a safe and healthful work environment, OSHA compliance, and incident reports
Accountable for the following:
- Compliance with medical surveillance (via use of Work-Care and training protocols)
- Timely, complete audit responses
- Overall compliance with procedures (i.e., 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 equipment inspections, et.al.), as noted during audits
- Pro-active safety procedures, i.e., training, safety meeting content and documentation, etc.
- Timeliness and thoroughness of completing incident reports, particularly accident analysis and steps to prevent recurrence
- Completion of 200 logs
- Incident rates
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience
Minimum of eight years supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures required
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups essential
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with vendors, management, and other coworkers, both individually and in front of a group
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential
Sitting for extended periods of time is common
Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare or inspect documents
Good manual dexterity for the use of tools and machinery

This position is performed at a job-site. Also includes travel to offices and projects in various locations around the country as needed. The following physical activities are often, but not always, associated with site visits:
- Must be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations
- When on project sites or if performing some types of work or activities, must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job is primarily performed at a job-site with occasional office visits.

NASTT certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Strong understanding of traffic control challenges and experience managing projects requiring significant traffic coordination.
ATSSA (or equivalent traffic control certification) strongly preferred.
Experience working with public agencies, Caltrans, city/county departments, and utility companies on permitting and approvals.
Strong knowledge of construction contract administration, RFIs, submittal reviews, and project documentation.

Ensure all onsite personnel, including subcontractors, comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
Assume responsibility for productivity of subcontractors, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.
Draft & generate field design change requests.
Oversee the installation, maintenance, and record-keeping of required SWPPP measures.
Oversee the security of jobsite; dust control; noise control; clean-up, etc.
Schedule all jobsite activities utilizing scheduling tools; communicate schedules to all parties.

Set up the job site with the appropriate job office needs (telephone, temp power, plan table, toilet, internet access etc.)
Oversee jobsite safety and provide safety record-keeping/documentation. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe job site; conduct daily site walk & safety report. Conduct weekly safety meetings.
Meet regularly with the client and architect.
Ensure accurate, complete, and timely paperwork reaches the office.
Review job cost reports monthly with the Project Manager including completed percentages and cost to complete.
Ensure all construction activities are running according to estimated costs and schedule with Project Manager's assistance.
Act as the technical authority for client questions or concerns.
Finalization of the project including punch list completion. Coordinate the prompt completion of all punch list items and efficient demobilization from job site.

Overview:
Working under the direct supervision of the Operations Director the Project Superintendent will be responsible for assuming ownership of one or more entire projects and monitoring the performance of them including safety, quality, scheduling, budgeting and overall client satisfaction. The Project Superintendent will be responsible for direction of site crews while implementing and adhering to protocols in compliance with company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal compliance laws. The Project Superintendent will work in collaboration with all Project Managers, clients and vendors to ensure projects are completed professional and in a timely manner ensuring projects are completed within budget, on time and to the level of quality expected by SEL Construction and our clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Superintendent will be primarily responsible for the coordination, planning, organization and direction of all job-related activities and supervision of all SEL Construction field personnel as required to successfully complete each project on schedule, within budget while ensuring the clients complete satisfaction. The Project Superintendent plays a key role within SEL Construction and will liaison with the Project Managers, Clients and other key personnel throughout the duration of each contract. The Project Superintendent will also be responsible for the following duties (but not limited to):
Schedule, assign and supervise, through subordinate supervisory personnel, all activities within each job site while ensuring occupational health and safety of all SEL Construction employees, subcontractors, project teams, clients, guests and assets in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, departmental and company policies, as well as industry standards and practices.
Coordinate department and job site assignments and provide daily logs, photos, updates, reports, and any documentation pertaining to the status of the job.
Must be able to accurately comprehend plans, specifications, and contracts to be able to inspect work in progress and assure compliance with applicable codes and industry standards, project specifications and quality assurance throughout the duration of the contract.
Train and monitor the performance of assigned personnel and conduct performance management on a regular basis.
Perform daily job site work completion and reviews ensuring applicable quality control measures in accordance with SEL Construction policies and procedures.
Effectively communicate with SEL Construction Warehouse personnel to ensure timely delivery of job site materials and/or equipment.

Maintain and promote an organized job site, including any on-site construction offices.
Ensure all Sub-Contractor contracts and vendor submittals are abiding by SEL Construction policies and procedures as well as safety, local, state and federal laws.
Review plans prior to contract commencing and ensure site prep work is executed according to contract, design and specifications and ensure on-site personnel cooperation.
Responsible for the business and relationship development and maintenance of any past, present, or future management, consultants, clients, employees and/or guests related to all SEL Construction contracts.
Work in conjunction with the Human Resources Director to develop and implement employee recognition and/or performance review.
Work in collaboration with SEL Constructions Executives, Directors and Managers to ensure the companys overall objectives, goals, operational functions as well as policies and procedures.
Maintain current and proficient knowledge of uniform building codes and inspection processes.
Maintain current and valid certifications as required by SEL Construction and deemed necessary by safety, local, state and federal laws.
Core Competencies and Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years experience as a Project Superintendent in commercial or industrial construction environment, preferably in the solar energy industry
Minimum 5 years experience working with various large commercial construction projects, or simultaneously working on multiple smaller projects with various commercial construction types such as renovations, ground up, etc.
Ability to work in a diverse environment with minimal supervision and direction.
Ability to work simultaneously and effectively on multiple tasks and projects with varying degrees of complexity.
Extensive understanding of construction site practices, procedures and safety protocols.
30 Hour OSHA Training/Certification required.
CPR/First Aid Training Certification required.
