The General Superintendent is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned to achieve safe, quality, and profitable projects completed in a timely manner. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety
Promotes Cantera's culture of “Safety First”
Project safety implementation and management in accordance with Cantera's Safety Program
Participate in all incidents/accidents, including going to the occupational medical facility with the co-workers
Interacts with the Cantera Safety Coordinator to ensure a safe workplace
Enforces Site Specific Safety Plans created by enforcing Cantera's rules, this includes your workers, other crews, and any trade on site
Operational
Be familiar with and follow the Cantera Concrete Staff Organization document for managing projects
Follows the information provided for each project, known as “The Greenbook”
Report project man-hours and quantities on a timely basis
Participate in the Job Turnover Process with the Estimator, Project Manager, General Superintendent, plus other members of the Cantera leadership team
Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force
Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of Owner and Architect/Engineer
Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Manager
Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts
Monitor costs including labor time and material
Manage schedules and ensure all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates and complete a three-week lookahead schedule on a weekly basis
Attending and participating in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings
Maintain and verify as-built drawings are accurate
Mobilizes the site and sets up site utilities
Assures necessary permits are secured and inspections occur
Reviews, understands, documents to drawings, and assist PM with all Requests for Information (RFIs)
Reviews submittals for implementation of the work
Reviews cost reports to assure they reflect accurate quantities and work out of place
Actively coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and craft to meet project schedules
Complete Daily Project Reports, Concrete Log, Sign-In Sheets, and other documents
Maintain on-site accurate shop drawings for implementing the work
Coaches and mentors' growth in crews and encourages Foreman and Craftsman to be mentors
Coordinate's location of control for layout with the Customer and Cantera Field Engineering Department

Coordinates Expediting List with the Project Engineer for procurement materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules, in accordance with SOP.
Coordinates Subcontractors work in proper sequence while keeping the overall scheduled completion done. Conducts weekly Subcontractor meetings and reviews 3 week short interval schedule, current quality management or activities and overall jobsite safety.
Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
Obtains and monitors all permits, building certificates and City inspections. Must become familiar with all local building enforcement procedures, in accordance with SOP.
Confers with General Superintendents, supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, suppliers of materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
Enforces the organizations Safety policies in accordance the SOP and also by establishing a climate that emphasizes safety on the job.
Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship and materials conform to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
Review Cost Reports and complete Back Charges in accordance with SOP.
Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, punch lists daily diaries, billing sheets pictures and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
Coordinates and approvals all time and material costs with various sub-contractors. Maintains daily paperwork.

Job Scope:
The Project Superintendent is responsible for and will be held accountable for the timely completion of the project and ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. Project Superintendent shall schedule all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors, as well as ensure their completion of work within time allowed. The Project Superintendent shall be responsible for the coordination of work directed in the field, and ensure work is performed in accordance with plans and specifications. Job Description Summary
Supervisory responsibility for all aspects of training and development of a safe and efficient hourly workforce through application of the company's policies and procedures, along with MSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Manage the performance of day-to-day operational activities including, but not limited to, perform MSHA regulated Workplace exams, pre-shift equipment inspections, validating personnel labor hours, reporting equipment usage hours, reporting plant production, ensuring pit and/or plant operational efficiency, planning and supervising the duties of the labor force, facility and roadway maintenance, product quality control and continuous production improvement.
Day-to-day general and preventive maintenance and operational efficiency of all classifying and mobile equipment and scale house.
Develop, submit and maintain an overall reclamation / site plan for management.
Requisition, order and maintain stock inventory of essential fuels, lubricants, oils and equipment and plant wear parts.
Communicate and coordinate with shop personnel on all repairs; document all repairs.
Lead weekly safety toolbox discussions with employees over pertinent safety topics applicable to the task, location or equipment / plant hazards inherent to the operation.

Qualifications
Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
3+ years' supervisory experience in aggregate mining operations with a general understanding of blasting, crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated processing equipment.
Experience with quality control procedures and sufficient understanding of the process changes required to obtain and sustain product gradations.
Must maintain a safe driving record and have a valid driver's license. CDL a plus.
Flexibility to work various schedules although typically day shift will be required.
Strong work ethic; excellent leadership, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Will be required to complete MSHA certification.
General working knowledge of iPad and iPhone applications and functionality.
Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
