The Superintendent-Utilities is responsible for developing, managing, overseeing and coordinating the overall field activities for all phases of the Utilities construction division, from initial planning to completion. The Superintendent staffs, schedules, and oversees project schedule(s) to maintain division budget, progress, and quality. The Superintendent is ultimately responsible for the profitability, quality, and safety of the division's projects, as well as the success and careers of its personnel. COMPENSATION $114,200.00 to $174,000.00 annually ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coach, mentor, and manage Foremen to consistently and safely deliver projects within the project schedules and budgets, according to contractual requirements and jurisdictional regulations. Provide proactive leadership to Foremen to drive employee engagement for their team based on the FIORE PRIDE values. Safety * Proactively review projects for OSHA, Company, and project safety requirements or concerns and take corrective actions. * Review site environment and Foreman's understanding to ensure thorough understanding of risks * Accountable for teams being led by qualified, competent Foremen and operating according to OSHA, Company, and project's requirements, standards, and SOPs. * Review regularly the job sites and team performance and ensure Foremen are proactively managing safety and enforcing team members to follow all safety requirements, as well as following all requirements themselves. * Resolve issues and risks on the job site that are not handled by Foreman and provide coaching and training such that Foremen proactively manage safety according to all requirements and standards. * Maintain OSHA 30 certification and be prepared to produce documentation when required. * Document safety issues and risks in the Project Issue and Risk Log and partner with the Safety, Project Manager, and Operational leaders to resolve issues and mitigate risks. * Regularly promote and communicate the expectation of all team members to complete near miss cards, Speak Up Listen Up, and Stop Work Authority and celebrate when this action is taken and formally hold accountable any Foreman who does not follow the SULU or Stop Work Authority. People * Drive employee engagement by demonstrating empathy and understanding toward team members' and Foremen's concerns and addressing concerns to a positive resolution, escalating to Executive Management if required; inspire a strong sense of Team; be an example of the Fiore values. * Provide solid team leadership with direct reports, conduct weekly one on ones with each Foreman, and assist with their training and development. * Provide leadership and establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships among all Fiore operating units, Fiore support teams, trades, vendors, and subcontractors. * Assist in administrative functions including, but not limited to: interviews, hiring, coaching and discipline of personnel, and coordinating supplemental subcontractors. * Ensure accessibility for questions and concerns to Foremen and their teams and problem-solve needs and challenges and ensure the Near Miss, Speak Up Listen Up, and Stop Work Authority processes are being utilized. * Lead a team of Foremen providing support, training, coaching, mentorship, and development for all team members. * Follow-up with team Foremen and Fiore support teams to ensure commitments are fulfilled. Customer * Build relationships with Customer's Superintendents and be ultimately accountable for delivering division's projects; serve as an escalation point for Customer's leaders. * Participate in new project Orientation, Preplanning, and Handoff with a focus on ensuring field operations are developing and providing Project Manager constructability, sequencing, safety tasks, durations, issue identifications, and risk mitigation; help identify opportunities to exceed expectations for budget and schedule. * Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes and regulations as well as Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards and specifications and continuously identify opportunities for improvement. * Review project issues and risks in the Project Issue and Risk Log and partner with the Project Managers and Field Operation leaders to resolve issues and mitigate risks. * Handle all field disagreements or project suboptimization between Foremen, keeping a good relationship with clients and/or employees. Business * Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications, including intended design, quality, and safety standards and continuously identify opportunities for improvement. * Review division's financial and operational performance and provide coaching and assistance when appropriate, including proper equipment utilization and staffing levels. * Review project performance to identify and resolve issues with suboptimization between Foremen. * Organize and assign projects and allocate personnel to Foremen. * Remain alert to and aware of potential efficiency improvements on the job sites in order to realize potential enhancements to equipment utilization and staffing. * Monitor costs and assist Project Managers in updating projections, reporting to Senior Management as needed. * Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization. * Proactively identify, document, address, problem-solve, and resolve issues and mitigate risks. * Be an escalation point of issues and risks for the Foremen. * Responsible for productivity of employees reporting to this function and the selection and hiring of qualified personnel. * Plan ahead for current and future project scheduling and prepare for growing or shrinking workloads. * Review Green Red report and identify divisional trends with common root causes and resolve at a divisional level. This position is responsible for managing HPM's field/craft personnel and subcontractors on a project. Primary duties will include leading construction crews, field documentation, managing onsite subcontractors, scheduling work, and tracking productivity. **Responsibilities** Essential functions will include: + Interpret and apply construction documents, including plans, specifications, contracts, shop drawings, submittals, and schedules independently. + Coordinate daily activities with owner representatives, project managers, foremen, craft workers, and subcontractors to resolve on-site challenges. + Actively participate in and support the health and safety program, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with OSHA standards. + Monitor project progress to ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards. + Manage labor and equipment resources effectively to maintain project schedules and control costs. + Communicate clearly and professionally with owners, inspectors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. + Supervise field crews and perform construction duties as needed, following all safety protocols. + Conduct safety meetings and complete job hazard analyses (JHAs) as required. + Maintain a consistent on-site presence during construction activities. + Plan project layout and allocate resources, including labor and equipment, to meet project milestones. + Lead and support crews consisting of carpenters, laborers, and specialty trade subcontractors. + Demonstrate working knowledge of related construction trades and the ability to operate basic equipment such as forklifts and loaders. + Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills. + Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. + Perform physical tasks that require full range of motion. + Represent UIC Sanatu with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to safety and quality. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications: + Min 10-15 years of Superintendent/General Foreman Experience in Remote Vertical Alaska Construction Projects. + Must have comprehensive working knowledge of Remote Alaska Construction. + Must possess and maintain current driver's license. + Must have a punctual work history. + Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. + First Aid Certification + OSHA-10 Certification Physical and Mental Demands: + Strenuous walking, standing, and climbing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying. + Work performed on uneven surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding. + Requires full-body physical activity including climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and walking. + Frequent use of hands and arms for handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials. + Must maintain physical endurance and coordination to safely perform construction-related tasks. Working Conditions: + Loud noises, and/or extremes of heat or cold. + The work often requires wearing protective gear that may be uncomfortable. + The nature of the work environment may produce moderate levels of stress. + Work environment is that of a construction site. + May be working in close proximity to moving equipment. + Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions such as cold, heat, exposed to noise, hazards, and/or close quarters.
