    The Construction Project Superintendent is responsible for the first-line supervision of a work crew (usually four crews with 1 to 10 employees) performing construction on Industrial Piping sites including Natural Gas Facilities and Hydrant Fueling Systems at airports. The Construction Project Superintendent position may require some hands-on participation and execution of construction work. The Construction Project Superintendent may spend long hours standing and/or walking. The physical demands may include lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying objects, as well as using computers. The Superintendent is accountable for all workers' safety, quality of work, and timely completion of Job Assignment. The Superintendent works directly with the Project Managers and is directly accountable to the Corporate President. This is a full-time position (40 hours). The positions may require more than 40 hours per week, depending on department/project needs and deadline objectives. Work Monday through Friday during the day with occasional work on nights and/or weekends depending on time-sensitive deadlines. Work weeks occasionally may be four (4) ten-hour workdays. The company will provide vehicle transportation and fuel for travel to and from projects. Work hours start and end at the location of the work project. The normal workday is 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but is subject to change as circumstances dictate. Generally, 30 minutes are allotted for unpaid lunch breaks, it is highly recommended to pack a lunch. During overnight stays, the company will provide lodging and pay per diem for meals. Using the Drawings, Specifications, Subcontractor Agreements, Purchase Orders and other applicable documents, resolve any conflicts that arise relative to Scope of Work. If a change in Scope of Work occurs, complete the necessary documentation and promptly advise the Project Manager. Attend Company Superintendent's Meetings. Completes and submits time sheets weekly. Responsible for the tracking and reporting of self-performed productivity reports to accounting weekly. Accurate completion of tool reporting log. Verify that Contractors & Suppliers on site have current insurance and workers' compensation certificates on file as required. Responsible for accurate coding and forwarding of delivery tickets to Accounting. Completes and submits Expense Reports monthly. Complete and submit a Two Week Man Power Look Ahead Schedule and Two Week Look Ahead Schedule to be submitted weekly. Participate in the investigation and solution of Owner complaints as necessary. Always inform the Project Manager of any complaint. Shut down work at Job Sites because of safety hazards, both potential and actual. Inform the Project Manager on a regular basis on all issues, potential and actual, that can affect schedule, quality or cost. Complete and issue field changes and back charge reports. Perform any other task or duty as may be assigned by the General Superintendent. Ensure that employees reporting directly or indirectly to the Superintendent are accountable for tools, material and equipment. Expedite deliveries, material problems and shortages and inform the Project Manager of any item that will affect timely completion. Receive and ensure the secure handling, and storing of materials, tools, and equipment. Request approval from the Project Manager and/or General Superintendent for overtime for direct hires or Subcontractors. Ensure that labor staffing is maintained at a sufficient level to meet the project schedule needs without undue reliance on excessive overtime. Assist WBC and/or subcontractor foreman in resolving any problems. Maintain cooperative working relationships with all Company employees. This includes "inter" and "intra" departmental employees. Also included are all Subcontractor, Owners, Architects, Suppliers, etc. Is alert to opportunities to change equipment, methods, processes and procedures that can benefit the Company and the overall project performance. Researches and develops these ideas with the Project Manager as may be appropriate. Ensure that direct hires (carpenters, laborers, etc.) are trained to perform their jobs adequately and safely including requirements of company Drug Free Workplace requirements. Advise the General Superintendent two (2) weeks in advance of any pending needs for direct hires. Cost code all delivery & purchase tickets for items delivered to site. Submit these to the Accounting Department weekly. Keep informed of the general employee morale and initiate whatever procedures are necessary to improve and maintain an acceptable level. In conjunction with the Project Manager, review budgets with actual costs on a weekly basis or as set forth by the project team at the Project Kickoff Meeting. Provide acceptable explanations on variations relating to labor and productivity and ensure that prompt remedial actions are taken as required. OTHER ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project demands. Most of the individual's time is spent on site, either in the site office or outside inspecting and supervising work. Occasional trips are necessary to the main office, to the Owner's location or to the Architect's office. These locations are visited throughout the year and during all weather conditions. This position requires the ability to navigate around and through, construction job sites and office facilities. The individual must be able to walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel and crouch.
