What is the job?
Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation of field observations on construction sites. Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects. Field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry mortar/ grout for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications. Daily use of Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management system. Calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards. Communicating with management staff, general contractors, and clients.

CTL|Thompson, Inc. is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician to work in our Denver Materials Lab. This opportunity is suited for hard working, active individuals. Engineering technicians assist geotechnical engineers in field observations and testing of soils, concrete and other construction materials. Engineering technicians prepare daily written or digital reports that transmit results of observations and test results. Individuals convey results to on-site client representatives, project managers and field scheduler.
Training is an essential component of this position and individuals with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Areas of training include topics relative to your responsibilities, as well as cross training of other areas to promote future growth and development within our organization.
A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with the company automobile insurance policy guidelines is required. Additionally, applicants must have a high school diploma (or equivalent). The ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. is required.
Engineering Technician Level I qualifications & pay rate range - Experience, secondary education, and applicable certifications are a plus. Full-time Engineering Technician Level I are paid between $17.00 and $23.00 per hour. Our offer will be based upon individuals experience and qualifications.
Engineering Technician Level II qualifications & pay rate range - One year of experience, secondary education, and/or a minimum of one applicable certification are required for this position. Full-time Engineering Technician Level II are paid between $19.50 and $26.00 per hour. Our offer will be based upon individuals experience and qualifications.
Engineering Technician Level III qualifications & pay rate range - Four years of experience, secondary education, and/or a minimum of two applicable certifications are required for this position. Job Description & Responsibilities:The Civil Technician reports directly to the Civil Supervisor and will have the following duties and responsibilities as a minimum: Perform Concrete Field/Lab & Soils Field/Lab material testing in accordance with all applicable AASHTO, ACI, ASTM, NQA-1, and System One procedures.
The Civil Technician must have the flexibility to work rotating shifts and weekends if needed
