CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking Resident Construction Manager for an upcoming multi-year, Turnpike project. The candidate would be expected to have Bridge Turnpike experience and live within or willing to travel between Mile Post 200 to Delaware River Bridge.
The Resident Construction Manager will be responsible for conducting meetings with contractors and clients, drafting correspondence, negotiating change orders, evaluation of claims, schedule management and mitigation, management of project controls, quality control, contractor payment, material testing, administration of safety plans, coordinating public concerns, submittal reviews, and document control.
Relocation or sponsorship is not available. Local candidates highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage overall construction operations for large heavy highway projects.
Manage construction inspection staff and provide direction and instruction as needed to maintain client satisfaction.
Provide construction management and inspection as needed to document contractor compliance with all project requirements required by the Owner.
Provide construction management oversight and assume responsibility for duties of the Resident Manager position expected by the Owner.
Work with management staff and superiors to provide excellent client service and maintain team atmosphere.
OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Maintain field and field office supervisory role as required.
Provide and maintain positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred
NICET Level 3 Certification preferred Level 4.
Professional Engineer License in good standing preferred
Minimum of 10 Years' Construction Inspection I Supervisory Experience

Site visits and photos

Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is desired
5 years of experience in General Construction, concrete and PEMB estimating and project management
Extensive Heavy Industrial and Concrete knowlege - need concrete experience with foundation, footers, walls, etc.
Well-rounded diverse candidates with a variety of heavy civil projects.
Must be computer literate in Microsoft, Scheduling, email, etc.
Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening
Knowledge of job site safety requirements and understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking
A good work ethic and strict adherence to safe work practices
Valid driver's license.

Essential Functions
Manage assigned elements of projects as an owner's representative to ensure contract compliance
Serve as a communication liaison between field staff, contractor, design team, federal and state agencies, and citizens

Provide technical guidance to the client and ensure the final product is quality work
Provide thorough constructability reviews for projects at 30%, 60%, and 90% design
Update and track financial information including cost projections for projects. Make recommendations related to partial and final contractor payments. Prepare and conduct entitlement determinations, independent cost estimates, time impact recommendations and documentation related to project change orders
Track project schedule and make recommendations
Conduct project meetings to include preconstruction meetings, utility coordination meetings, progress meetings and pre-activity meetings
Prepare project management correspondence and reviews recommendations made by project staff.
Manage the Project Close-out process, including as-builts, final quantities and final acceptance
Focus attention on the success of key project elements: Safety & Environmental, Quality, Schedule and Cost
