ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs secretarial duties and provides administrative support to the area superintendent. Serves as the initial contact person for visitors and answers incoming phone calls to the office. Manages the office in the absence of the area superintendent. Processes confidential materials such as principal evaluations and telephone messages. Assists school administrators and secretaries by providing answers to varied questions or directing them to appropriate personnel. Assists with managing various budgets in the area superintendent's office. Prepares board materials to be submitted to the Board of Education. Schedules interviews and corresponds with applicants, as directed. Generates effective correspondence, presentations, reports, and other documents as directed by the area superintendents. Purchases office supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items (i.e., books, pens, banners, etc.). Facilitates travel arrangements and conference registrations for the area superintendent. Performs other related duties, as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position operates in a professional office and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, parents, staff members of external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment.
