Assistant Electrical Construction Manager (Phoenix, AZ) DARcor & Associates, Inc. is an electrical consulting engineering firm in Phoenix, Arizona specializing in electrical design, construction oversight, and inspection services. We partner with civil engineering firms in the water, wastewater, industrial (food and beverage), and mining markets throughout the southwest United States. We occasionally work as the prime engineering firm when electrical is the main scope of work for the project. DARcor is seeking a full-time Assistant Construction Manager. The individual will work with the Construction Manager to oversee the electrical, instrumentation, and control installations of water and wastewater construction projects to ensure they are built per the plans, specifications, and national, state, and local codes. Responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings/submittals/O&M manuals, responding to contractor RFI's, reviewing contractor change orders, making site observations/inspections, assisting with startup and testing, preparing punch lists/reports, and creating as-builts/record drawings. The candidate will review electrical power distribution equipment, control panels, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment submittals to ensure they are electrically compatible with the electrical design. The Fiber Network Construction Administrator plays a key role in the daily administrative and operational support of the Fiber Network Construction team. Travel: This is not a remote role and requires regular travel, 80% or more Major Responsibilities: Project Documentation: Establish and comply with the requirements of the Site Startup Checklist as directed by the quality manager for technical services. Review and understand the project's contract documents, including the drawings and written specifications. Participate in constructability reviews of the documents to understand the design intent. Establish site logistics, including the fulfillment of the “Site Startup Checklist.” Document the field record of the project by recording and distributing “Daily Reports,” “Meeting Minutes,” and other pertinent documentation as directed by the CM/PM while maintaining the organization of these records for immediate review on the project site. Project Site: Supervise the construction effort (in conjunction with the Construction Manager), including craft employees and subcontractors, to ensure the project is constructed per design, budget, and schedule, including interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, government inspectors and others accordingly. Supervise onsite functions (scheduling, sequencing, engineering, material control, safety). Provide weekly 2-week “Look Ahead” scheduling, communicating immediate field tasking. Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project site rules and regulations, Safety program requirements, document all violations, notify project management, and recommend and implement corrective actions as required. Evaluate and comment on subcontractors' requests for payment. Minimum Job Requirements Education High School diploma Certification / License OSHA 30-Hour Certification Work Experience Previous experience in construction and/or craft supervision experience in construction. Five (5) years of Data Center experience as a site super or project engineer, including experience with the installation of mechanical & electrical system. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Reader/Acrobat . In-depth knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations, pertinent governing safety regulations, building trade terminology, and technical aspects of field specialty. Knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), craft agreements, jurisdiction, and negotiations. Experience in construction scheduling and cost control. Experience in preparing, maintaining, and managing all on-site project documentation. Organized, analytical self-starter with the ability to problem solve and work independently. Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications. Ability to manage diverse groups and create and foster a team approach to the project. Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management. Compensation: Constructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $83,700 - $125,000.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Summary Under the guidance of the Site Superintendent and in partnership with the Project Manager, develops, manages, and completes a job plan for an assigned job. Duties and Responsibilities * Review plans and specifications to have a comprehensive knowledge of job requirements. * Develop job plan, including schedule, access, manpower, building requirements, etc. * Procure tools, labor and some materials. * Interact with architects and owners to resolve job issues. * Meet with General Superintendent regularly for additional training and development. * Communicate construction issues and progress to supervisory personnel engaged in coordinating various phases of construction; craft personnel to update and gather input; subcontractors prior to mobilization to review scope of work and schedule and prior to each phase of work on schedule and phasing requirements; clients to update them on project's progress; and the General Superintendent for input and guidance. * Work with supervisors and labor representatives to resolve problems with the project work force. * Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel and/or inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and to improve construction methods. * Inspect work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and construction schedules. * Manage the project based on progress reports, materials used and costs and adjust work schedules accordingly. * Work with Manager of Field Operations to move personnel from project to project to maximize resources. * Handle crew mixes and work assignments to manage labor costs. * Terminate craft personnel who are not performing according to policies, procedures, or job requirements. * Work with Project Manager in preparing the Project Management Plan. * May track and price extra work tickets, change requests and back charges to cover extra expenses. * Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety. * Demonstrate integrity; maintain professional standards of conduct and ethics; and follow company policies and procedures. * Participate actively in team environment and contributes to successful completion of team goals. * Accept accountability for both individual and team performance. * Performs other related duties as assigned.
