This is a safety sensitive position. **Essential Duties:** + Preparation of areas for the placement of concrete involves final excavation of dirt and rock and fine grading for floor slabs. This work involves shoveling for extended periods of time. + Assembly of concrete forms, laborers are required to lift form prefabricated metal form panels and assist in their placement. + Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane that transfers the concrete from the concrete truck to the placement area. After the concrete is poured from the bucket, laborers muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly. + After the concrete has cured, the laborers assist in stripping the concrete forms and transporting them for storage. + Assist concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds used to finish the concrete surface. + Support of block masons installing masonry work by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout. This includes stocking blocks and bricks. + Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames. This entails transporting the door frames from the storage area to the work areas and stacking the door frames where needed. + Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained. + Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards. Job Title General Laborer Under direct supervision in operations, loads and unloads materials, parts, or products manually or by mechanized means. Transfers finished products and raw materials about plant and warehouse, using hand truck. Delivers production items to designated work areas for processing. Delivers processed units to storage or for the next stage of processing. Stacks processed items in warehouse. Packs products in containers. Cleans around work areas. Assists other production workers in production activities. Handles special projects, as assigned. Essential Functions Under direct supervision, the General Laborer is responsible for installing, removing, and washing of composite mats, installing/removing environmental containment for construction, and any other service required for T&D, pipeline, construction, and O&G industries. The use of hand and power tools may be required to ensure proper installation of containment and mats on customer sites. All tools must be maintained and utilized in the proper manner, informing management of any issues. This work involves shoveling for extended periods of time. Assembly of concrete forms, laborers are required to lift form prefabricated metal form panels and assist in their placement. Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane that transfers the concrete from the concrete truck to the placement area. After the concrete is poured from the bucket, laborers muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly. After the concrete has cured, the laborers assist in stripping the concrete forms and transporting them for storage. Assist concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds used to finish the concrete surface. Support of block masons installing masonry work by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout. This includes stocking blocks and bricks. Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames. This entails transporting the door frames from the storage area to the work areas and stacking the door frames where needed. Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools. Distribute site materials to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained. Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform physical labor and heavy equipment operation including excavation, trenching, shoveling, and dump truck driving; operate necessary equipment; assist in the repair of concrete and asphalt. Perform physical labor for masonry projects including mixing mortars and cement, operating a jackhammer and grinder, lifting and moving materials to and from various job sites. Perform daily lubricating, cleaning and repairing of machinery, equipment and tools used in construction labor. Assist with construction projects and perform general duties including running parts, demolition, paint preparation, wire pulling, pipe installation, installation of various construction materials, and work site cleaning. Assist in snow removal duties by removing snow from sidewalks, steps, roadways and parking lots utilizing hand tools and/or heavy equipment, dump truck and sand truck. Perform moving operations for equipment, furniture and specialized items. Maintain security of goods and equipment during moving operations. Notify supervisor of broken or damaged items. Perform the dismantling, assembly or reassembly of objects as necessary. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: Assist journeymen with labor-related duties. Provide leadership and project supervision on various work assignments.
