Job Duties:
Highway Operations Worker: $18.19 Grade 14
Highway Operations Worker is the entry level position for the Highway Operations Technician series. The scope of the duties and basic tasks to be learned include; operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care, and preservation, landscape care and preservation, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.
Highway Operations Tech 1: $20.46/hr. Grade 17
Highway Operations Tech 1 is the apprentice classification for the series. Will be trained to perform more advanced duties which include; operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.
Highway Operations Tech 2: $22.45/hr. Grade 18
Highway Operations Tech 2 is the entry journey classification for the series. Responsible for performing a broad scope of intermediate level highway operational duties and/or lead responsibilities. Some duties and basic tasks include; operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.
In this series the employee will also take on the duties of scheduling, assigning, and overseeing subordinates work, inspecting work, training, and guiding staff in duties mentioned above for the series.
Highway Operations Tech 3: $24.44/hr. Grade 19
Highway Operations Tech 3 is the full journey classification for the series. Responsibility for performing a broad scope of high level highway operation duties and/or supervisor responsibilities. Some duties and basic tasks include; operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.
In this series the employee will also take on the duties of scheduling, assigning, and overseeing subordinates work, inspecting work, training, and guiding staff in duties mentioned above for the series.

Employees must obtain their Arizona CDL (Class “A”) permit within 90 days from the date of hire and a Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver's license (CDL) is required within 6 months of hire.
Highway Operations Tech 1-3 Requirements:
An Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver's license (CDL) for a manual or automatic transmission and a (N) tanker endorsement is required prior to the start date. Based on the assigned area additional endorsements may be required.

Position responds to emergency call outs (24 hours a day, seven days a week); must be able to respond to Maintenance yard within 30 minutes.

Position Purpose:

Job Summary
Amtrak is delivering one of the most significant and complex rail infrastructure programs - the Sawtooth Bridges Replacement Program. This multi-phased CMAR megaproject includes major bridges replacement, heavy civil works, rail systems integration, and multiple construction packages delivered under a CMAR model.
The Lead Construction Specialist provides essential support in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities from early field assessments through project delivery. Working under the direction of program and project managers, you will collaborate closely with engineers, contractors, force account personnel, and division leadership to ensure assigned portions of the work meet scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety expectations. The role focuses on field oversight, technical support, and facilitating communication between on-site operations and project management to help ensure successful construction execution in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
* Support capital construction activities by providing field oversight, technical assistance, and coordination with contractors and force account personnel to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, cost, and safety expectations.
* Monitor daily field work and initiate action when necessary to ensure construction is performed according to design and contract specifications.
* Apply standard construction engineering techniques and sound judgment to identify issues and recommend solutions.
* Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and field personnel.
* Assist the Program/Project Manager with reviewing change requests, drafting potential change notices, and providing justification for scope adjustments.

The salary/hourly range is $94,300.00 - $122,256.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Daily Routine of scaffolding structures at some fascinating professional venues like football and soccer stadiums, baseball fields, tennis courts, golf courses, hockey rinks, and racetracks for example. You can expect to see much of the work we completed while watching a game or event on tv.
