You do not need a degree to be a construction worker. The majority of those working in construction have a high school diploma. While there are varying job levels within the field of construction, some of which require skills related to management and planning, a typical construction worker can begin work in the field with thirty days or fewer of training in a specific area of construction. Approximately 30% of construction workers hold either a bachelor's or associate's degree. There is no specific field of study that stands out among those workers with degrees and the work that they do. A small number of workers hold certificates through the EPA and OSHA.

Usually, construction workers don't need a college education. The most common degree for construction workers is high school diploma with 51% graduates, with only 19% construction worker graduates earning bachelor's degree. Construction workers who decided to graduate from college often finish University of Phoenix or Central State University. Some good skills to have in this position include roofing, safety rules and sheetrock.
