Ability to coordinate with pipe crews while working inside trench or trench boxes. Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors. Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools. Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators. Grouting experience is a plus Experience with checking grade Perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints. Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels. Coordinate with operators to ensure PVC or RCP is properly connected and set to grade. Understand safety precautions associated with working in trenches and trench boxes. Duties include assisting in the repair, maintenance, construction, installation, and fusion of plastic pipe, and in the reconditioning of gas distribution pipelines. Main Responsibilities are: * Properly lift tools, objects and equipment of varying weight. * Compress soil and asphalt. * Shovel material, soil and cold patch asphalt mix. * Operate vehicles used for hauling. * Assist in the demolition, take-up and reconditioning of old pipe. * Score and break asphalt or concrete with a jackhammer. * Repair backfilled trench areas with grass seed or asphalt. * Travel frequently within the area for work assignments. Required Qualifications are: * High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years' experience in lieu of education will be considered. * 1 year of outdoor work or manual labor experience. * Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment. * Clean driving record and a DOT physical or ability to obtain one upon employment (reimbursed upon hire).
