About the Role
This position can be physically demanding and candidates must be able to work outdoors, at heights and travel as needed. Essential Responsibilities:
Performs any combination of the following duties on construction projects, usually working in a utility capacity and by transferring from one task to another. Activities include but are not limited to:
Measures distances from grade stakes, drive stakes and stretch tight lines.
Bolts, nails and aligns and blocks up under forms.
Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
Levels earth to fine grade specifications, using pick and shovel.
Mixes concrete, using float, trowel and screed.
Positions, joins and aligns and seals pipe sections.
Erects scaffolding, shoring and braces.
Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, or paint through hose to clean, coat or seal crevices.
Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces, such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring using abrading tools or machines.
Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulating materials.
Work is usually performed with other workers.
Ability to work without close supervision once directed on task.
Obeys and follows all safety rules on the job site and encourages others to do the same.
Maintains a good relationship with co-workers and works well with others to accomplish a task.
Physical demands of this position include lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally; 40-50 pounds frequently along with frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and handling.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Laborer will be using hands tools such as shovels to assist the operator in safely excavating or placing units. General Labors assist the concrete, sealcoating, and asphalt crews in completing projects on time and to company standards.
The general laborer's job description is to familiarize himself with all the job parameters, and to handle all the tools, equipment and material to take care of asphalt, sealcoating, and concrete projects.
The general laborer has many responsibilities alongside the mill, alongside the tractor and screed of the asphalt paver, alongside the rollers, and in between these machines, making safety one of his top priorities.
The general laborer's responsibilities are to take care of the project. He will perform this duty by sweeping, brooming, raking, shoveling, lining out the job, sealcoating, crack sealing, tying rebar, setting up frames, and more.
Throughout the shift, the laborers will maintain cleanliness around the project, shoveling up any spilled materials that could negatively affect the appearance of the job site.
At the end of the shift, the general laborers become maintenance men. They will help with cleaning up equipment, ensuring it's wiped down and free of materials that create problems later. The laborers will clean the tools and return them to the tool truck for safekeeping overnight. Don't forget to remove all spray cans and paint cans from equipment so vandals don't mark up your equipment at night. The laborers will also help with fueling the equipment at the end of the shift.
The general laborers answer to the foreman on the job.

Benefits: This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee. The employee receives a benefit allowance to assist with insurance cost. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.
Job Description
Basic Purpose
The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of routine tasks involving unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, while functioning as a team lead. These tasks will include general custodial and housekeeping activities, general maintenance, grounds maintenance, repair duties, assisting crafts personnel, performing escort duties, and event set-up and tear-down. They will be responsible for overseeing other laborers and ensuring assigned work is correctly completed.

Performs custodial activities to include sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, washing, scrubbing, cleaning and polishing building floors, walls, windows, ceilings and drinking fountains.

Cleans, sanitizes, and/or disinfects restroom toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, plumbing fixtures, walls, floors, partitions, door handles, counter tops, mirrors, and benches.

Refills toilet paper, paper towel, and soap dispensers as needed and replaces batteries in dispensers and auto-flush meters.

Collects and deposes of debris and trash.
·
Maintains good customer service, communication, and relationships with each Building Manager.

Attends training and meetings as required.

Records accurate time accounting in iEMS.
Cuts grass, weeds, trees and brush; cleans culverts, drains and ditches; moves, loads and unloads materials, supplies and equipment; hauls or carries sand, lumber, asphalt and cement or other materials.

Assists skilled craft workers, including carpenters, plumbers, electricians or HVAC technicians by carrying materials and tools, picking up materials from suppliers or performing unskilled tasks, such as mixing concrete or mortar, digging holes and tearing out walls; moves furniture, and other heavy equipment, assists in setting up or moving scaffolds.

Digs post holes and ditches, rakes grass and leaves, picks up trash and debris, sweeps walks, and assists in snow removal.

This is the lead worker of the job family level of this job family where employees are assigned advanced level tasks involving leading or functionally supervising lower-level workers in unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor or general repair and maintenance duties or assisting in the completion of various skilled tasks by performing basic tasks such as moving materials and equipment, mixing concrete, digging holes, tearing out walls, and similar duties.
Education and Experience
One year of experience in general construction work in the building trades, lawn care or gardening
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and practices of the general building and mechanical trades. Ability to follow simple oral instructions; skill to use hand tools and high speed power tools; to perform the less skilled aspects of the mechanical and building trades; and to physically perform heavy manual labor, plus knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Special Requirements
Physical Requirements:
Applicant must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 60 pounds
Applicant must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions (Over 100 Degrees F and below 20 Degrees F)
Applicant must be able to work from various building heights
