Role description Under general supervision, the General Laborer performs a variety of manual labor tasks such as removing debris from construction, maintenance, wrecking, or repair work; loading and unloading materials, supplies, furniture, and equipment; may work as part of a crew with other crafts; and operating various types of equipment and machinery including pneumatic and hand tools associated with general construction. Attend job walks, meet with project management, contractors, and governing agencies. Ensure the project construction team does not start the giveaway process until the approval process have been completed. CS must review recipient's property prior to agreeing to provide soil. The CS should evaluate and identify any hazards in advance. This requires a knowledge of trucks and underground utilities to be sure that the right sized trucks are ordered and that they do not damage any underground utilities. Overhead lines and structures should also be noted and evaluated to determine if deliveries can be made safely. CS is to be on recipient's property during first dirt deliveries. Many projects of a larger size will have more than one recipient. The CS must be onsite for all first-time deliveries to evaluate job safety, identify any hazards that may have been missed during initial review and stop the job if needed. On a large project, this may mean that multiple personnel need to be in multiple locations at the same time. Perform project oversight.
