Currently, we are seeking a
DB2 Administrator
, to join IPS and become a key member on our production maintenance and support project.


Job Description:
Experience administering and migrating DB2 Databases Provide DB2 Database Administration support Monitor database performance performed data change requests, migration and database maintenance. Analyze capacity and growth of databases using various automated testing tools and performance optimization. Support developers for efficient SQL query and performance. Proactively provide Database structure, usability and performance improvements Review query performance reports for inefficiencies and performance issues in IBM DB2. Analyze Database activity, performing application Database performance tuning, and maintaining test and production Databases Provide updated SQL queries or indices to improve performance. Work with Data Architects and physical DBAs to request the implementation or modification of Databases in development, test, QA and production environments Review data volumetric information on an on-going basis and notify physical DBAs of any changes from current levels and improve Database performance. Provide consultation and advice on new queries and stored procedures. Review new queries and stored procedures on an exception basis, at Exelon request, where special skill, knowledge or techniques are required. Participate in the creation and maintenance of test data sets to support various test requirements, including but not limited to system tests, performance tests and in-scope user acceptance tests. Provide assistance in the deployment of Database Changes, and support the back out of failed changes; maintain data dictionary systems and document all changes to Databases

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering with 7 Minimum years of Relevant Experience.

The job may entail an extensive amount of travel. The job also entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face.

We are currently seeking a Database Administration Advisor to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia (US-DC), United States (US).

This role will perform data architect and database administrator functions as an integral staff member in the humanitarian assistance data space. To succeed in this role, the candidate should know how to examine new data system requirements and implement migration models. The ideal candidate will also have proven experience in data analysis and management, with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Develop, optimize and oversee the team's conceptual and logical data systems
* Perform in an administrative and technical role and display both sound technical skills and administrative aptitude
* Develop extensive knowledge of the databases
* Be the first respondent to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting
* Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data
* Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming
* Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations
* Install and organize information systems to guarantee company functionality
* Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams
* Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions
* Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features
* Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems
* Educate staff members through training and individual support
* Offer support by responding to system problems in a timely manner
* Monitor system performance and identify problems that arise
* Protect the database against threats or unauthorized access
* Ensure that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss
* Report on metrics regarding usage and performance
* Suggest changes and improvements for maintenance or protection
* Regularly liaise with IT project managers and database programmers
* Design databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind
* Maintain an awareness of trends and developments in database administration

Basic Qualifications:

* A minimum of 8 years of experience working with database structure systems and data mining and utilizing data manipulation software such as MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop or Postgre SQL
* BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Physical Science, or other technology-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience
* Must be able to obtain a Secret/Top-Secret clearance level

Preferred Qualifications:

* Advanced certification as an MCDBA or MCSD for .NET
* Strong knowledge of database structure systems and data mining
* Analytic mindset and good problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Highly organized and responsible
