This position enforces safety precautions and performs advanced electrical/electronic inspection of materials and workmanship, and tests completed work to ensure that it is in compliance with plans, specifications and local and national electrical code. Works with minimal on-the-job supervision, and has authority to recommend acceptance or denial of the electrical portion of a construction project. Examples of duties: • Supervises or inspects highway/road construction on an on-going basis to assure compliance with contract and in accordance with State and Federal standards. • Inspects and examines Engineering Project Records, Field Notes, Computations and other Prepare typewritten daily reports and documentation to assure that methods of measurement and basis for payment are in accordance with project requirements, specifications, special provisions, and extra work orders. • Reviews construction plans and verifies that these are in accordance with designated specifications and other requirements to include calculating of land areas, using geometric and trigonometric computations. • Prepares completed work estimates to determine the compensation due the contractor. • Attends work unit staff meetings, gives and receives information; and participates in problem solving and decision making. • Supervises and/or inspects all work activities involved in construction projects, including survey, material laboratory testing, and field material quality acceptance work. • Review and approve daily reports from subordinates and recommend approval of proposed project changes. • Knowledge and application of MUTCD with regard to temporary traffic control plans and devices. • Proficient in the use of tablet or computer laptop with Microsoft Office. • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Qualifications • Requires AZ PE in Civil Engineering or closely related field; or eligibility for reciprocity in the State of Arizona. • Shall possess a valid Arizona driver's license and meet auto insurability requirements. • Drug-free workplace; candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and subject to post-accident testing during employment. Preferred consideration will be given to candidate(s) who possess: • 5-10 years of related construction experience. • ACI Certification (Field); and/or Arizona Technical Testing Institute (ATTI) Field Certification; or past expired certification(s); or ability to complete within first 3 months of employment. • Other desirable certifications may include ATSSA Temporary Traffic Control Supervisor or Erosion Control Certification. Work Environment: May be subject to the following conditions/physical requirements dependent upon area of assignment: • Adverse weather conditions • Lifting in excess of 50 pounds • Extended walking over rough terrain • Climbing over 10 feet • Exposure to hazardous materials, continuous loud noises, strenuous physical activity and/or proximity to large construction equipment.
