* BS in a technical field (CS/EE preferred) or equivalent plus 8+ years related experience.

* Expert level (CCIE preferred) in Route & Switch or Service Provider.

* Must have solid Network design skills, with strong knowledge of networking fundamentals

* Hands on experience in deploying and supporting Cisco IOS-XR, IOS-XE and IOS Software.

* SP Routing Platforms: ASR9K, NCS5K, Cisco 8000 and other Cisco Routing & Switching Platforms

* Data Center Platforms: Nexus 9K and Nexus Family a plus.

* IP Routing, Internetworking, MPLS, LAN Switching, MPLS (L2/L3 VPN/VRF-Lite) and MPLS-TE, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, inter-as routing, QoS, Ipv6, IP SLAs, RPVST+, MST, PIM, DMVPN, GETVPN, NetFlow.

* Working knowledge of YANG models, NETCONF, and gNMI/gNOI

* Has moderate to advanced knowledge of software programmability, automation, orchestration, virtualization

* Prior Scripting, Python, and/or Linux experience highly desired.

* Ability to apply critical thinking to function effectively in ambiguous circumstances.

* Successfully communicates difficult concepts. Guides, influences and persuades others either internally and externally

· Job Description Summary
Solutions Consulting and Network Engineer for post-sales engineering services (Design and Consult) for NA based Ciena customers. Activities include assisting with Consulting, Design, Audits and Operations (DND, DCN, Photonic, Solution Acceptance, Layer 2/3 Engineering and Provisioning, Network Reconfiguration and Migrations).Job position requirement is primarily day-shift based, with 2nd/3rd shifts involvement for engineering procedure execution and work implementation on live customer networks.To provide leadership, mentoring and coaching internally to peers on various products (39xx, 51xx, 6500, CPL, MCP, PNC and others).
· Job Description
• Takes direction from the Ciena Senior Manager of Network Engineering.
• Interfaces with the following functional groups on a day to day basis; Systems Engineers (SE), Deployment Project Managers (DPM), Technical Support, Field Service Engineers, Field Project Engineers, Service Partners, Product Line Management (PLM), Service Sales Management (SSM), Training and Documentation.
1.) Develops network solutions based on Customer requirements including growth plans, capacity constraints, new features, technologies.
- Responsible for creating complex step by step engineering method of procedure to migrate, reconfigure and modernize the entire customers networks. Drive these changes remotely during off hours and week-ends.
- Responsible to deliver OSS, NMS, CES solutions, Complex DCN designs, Software customization framework and development plans.
2.) Stays abreast of new product engineering guidelines and keeps current with the latest technologies in order to deliver optimum network designs to the Customer.
3.) Provides timely support to Customers for questions/issues. Communicates project status and escalates problems to the engineering team leader.
4.) Performs assignments within schedule, with high quality, following established processes, Customer Specific Requirements and Engineering guidelines.
5.) Proactively pursues methods or solutions that will improve the Customer network and/or Engineering processes. Works to ensure Customer satisfaction.
6.) Shares knowledge with the engineering team by mentoring individuals and holding internal training sessions. Ensures new found knowledge is captured with appropriate tool and process updates.
7.) Tracks and reports performance against budget and ensures generation of change orders where appropriate.
8.) Leads Engineering team and serves as a single point of contact for network design/migration projects.
9) Receives project inputs from the SE and/or Customer and is responsible for validating and creating the Detailed Network Design (DND) that contains all the required settings and configurations needed to properly provision and turn up Ciena's equipment.
• Act as a key technical interface to the Customer, plans, engineers, and supports network solutions/migration.
• Leads the Turn-Up and Testing of various Ciena Product Lines in both Greenfield and In-Service Deployment environments.
• Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and debugging complex technical issues that occur during these activities.

The Network Engineer is a critical member of the Technology Services Group and will be responsible for configuring and maintaining the corporate LAN/WAN infrastructure. The Network Engineer will work closely with other team members on various infrastructure projects and assist in troubleshooting complex issues. This position will report to the Manager of Network Engineering and will act as an escalation point for the Network Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Functions include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for configuring, maintaining and providing support for the corporate LAN/WAN network.
ssist in the design and implementation of new network solutions using best practice methodology.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance and improve performance.
Ensure security best practices are used on all security/network devices, Windows servers and desktops.
Implement firewall policy changes based on business requests and requirements.
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades while minimizing downtime.
Provide level 2 and 3 escalation support for critical production issues.
Collaborate with other infrastructure team members to work on projects and resolve network related issues.
Perform network vulnerability assessment. Assist with the remediation of vulnerability and security related issues.
Create and maintain network diagrams and documentations.
Requirements
BA/BS Degree preferably in an IT related field.
Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 year experience as a network engineer, preferably in the financial services industry.
Minimum 5 year experience configuring, deploying and supporting Cisco LAN/WAN switches and routers (Nexus 9K, 6K, 5K, Fabric Extenders, Catalyst 9K, 6K and 4K, ISRs).
Solid understanding of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, STP, PIM, LACP, PBR, VPC).
Working knowledge of Cisco ACI Fabric and VxLAN BGP EVPN with DCNM.
Experience with Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
Experience working with Checkpoint firewalls.
Experience working with extranet and market data vendors.
Experience working with monitoring, management, and troubleshooting tools (Solarwinds Orion, Firemon, Netflow and Wireshark).
