RTN Federal Credit Union consumer loan officer job description

RTN Federal Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Lending Supervisor to supervise the day-to-day loan processing operations involved with the origination, documentation and closing of personal, auto and line of credit consumer loans. This detail-oriented individual will assist the Consumer Lending Manager with the development and implementation of procedures which will maintain accuracy and completeness of required documentation, assists with audits, and delivers training to staff.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with staff and interacting with consumers as needed. The Consumer Lending Supervisor is an integral part of the Consumer Lending department and is looked to by staff and management to ensure a high level of service to our members by managing and mentoring staff to perform to their highest potential.
Responsibilities

Provide guidance to the Consumer Lending staff by ensuring they have proper training, assist with problem solving through employee coaching Assign loans and monitor queues within the lending system Monitor daily Visa reports Process Visa fraud Work with auto dealerships involved with indirect lending Process GAP, Life and Disability Claims Gathers Documentation for Loan audits Provide monthly lending reports to credit committee Monitors email and member account research

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience 2 years minimum lending experience

This position works 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday-Thursday, and 8:30am to 6:00pm, Friday.
Job Description


Interviews member loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition. Analyze the current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decisions to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels of authority. Explains loan programs to members, evaluates their needs and recommends loan options. Will actively engage in needs-based selling.


Qualifications


Two to five years of similar or related experience. High school or equivalent education. Must provide friendly, professional, personal service to all members.

GECU consumer loan officer job description

This position is a job family. There are two levels.



Level I



BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsible for establishing accounts for members and obtaining information on which lending decisions are based, as well as the completion of all related documents. Assists credit union members with all types of credit union loans and related services. Assists in financial counseling, explains the loan/deposit policies to members and looks for every opportunity to cross-sell all credit union products and services via remote services.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Explains to members and prospective members the philosophy, purpose, objectives and policies as they relate to the services of the credit union.

Creates opportunities to sell all credit union products and services to members with special emphasis on promotions and new services.

Emphasizes credit life and disability insurance to benefit both the members and the credit union.

Offers financial counseling and assistance in helping members restructure their finances while enhancing credit union profitability.

Structures loans to increase credit union equity position.

Evaluates credit union risk in connection with all loan/deposit products and services; suggests approval or disapproval based on credit analysis, using GECU and Federal regulation criteria.

Completes all documents related to loan/deposit products accurately, including Home Improvement Loans.

Exercises professionalism and good judgment in dealing with members and coworkers.

Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU's established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).

Performs other duties assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.

Ability to approve loans at the Level 1 lending authority.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Requirements



CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS


Extensive knowledge of credit union services, with emphasis on special promotions and new services.

Basic knowledge of business law and consumer credit laws and regulations related to loan/deposit products.

Knowledge to obtain the market value and methods of appraising all types of collateral and analyzing income and financial statements.

Ability to deal with upset members with even temperament using tact and diplomacy.

Ability to work on more than one task accurately and promptly.

Working knowledge of calculator, personal computer and software used in department.

Good communication skills, both oral and written.

High school diploma or equivalent and one to three years similar work experience.

This position may require the employee to work from home.

Requires sitting the majority of the day, lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling and reaching above the shoulder level occasionally.

This position requires the employee to work from home but may require onsite onboarding and training.

PRIMARY REPSONSIBILITY

Providing quality service is the primary responsibility of this position. Quality service means treating members and coworkers with respect and courtesy at all levels whether in person or by telephone as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
