Help job seekers learn about working at Consumers Energy
Working at Consumers Energy was my 3rd career. Therefore, I was not put in the position of knowing that working at Consumers Energy was the end all career for me. Having completed A.S., B.S., MEd and becoming a PhD student I found myself having to dumb down to other management employees due to not willing to participate in corporate for career advancements.
Cons of working at Consumers Energy
Many of my management associates resented my past accomplishments and academic achievements and held them against me even to the point of career advancements. What I mean to say is that they felt more qualified than me and their ideas and actions were superior because they learned at the School of Hard Knocks and not a University.
Consumers Energy benefits
Working at Consumers Energy was a lot of fun and I met many great people. I tell people that there are three things I miss being retired. Number 1: Salary. Number Two: OM&C employees I managed. Number 3: Not working 60+ hours per week on salary and being told my salary is based upon a minimum of 50 hours per week.

Pros of working at Consumers Energy
Co-workers, customers, the work itself, knowing I had done an excellent honest job
Cons of working at Consumers Energy
Management. Lower than expected/promised raises, unspoken expectations that were always used against the employees to make them feel incompetent. No recognition of excellent performance, it was always overlooked/ignored, only placing their attention on what was wrong. Being micro-managed so much that more time/effort was put into jumping through their hoops to the point of not being able to get the work done. It made for an oppressive/nightmarish experience every day.
Consumers Energy benefits
PTO/Paid holidays, friends I worked with.
