1998

In 1998 Continental broadened its investment in auto components with the $1.93 billion purchase of ITT Industries' brake and chassis business.

1999

In 1999, Continental forged even further ahead with its investment in electronic safety systems.

2002

In 2002, weathering continued instability in the economic climate, Continental resumed broad restructuring, including widespread job cuts and plant closures.

2003

The ContiSportContact 2 Vmax is unveiled in 2003, the world’s first road tire approved for speeds of up to 360 km/h.

2007

In 2007, Continental acquires Siemens VDO Automotive AG and became one of the top five suppliers in the automotive industry worldwide.

2010

Thanks to its special material expertise, in 2010 ContiTech succeeded in developing a lightweight air spring with an innovative rolling piston made of fiberglass-reinforced polyamide instead of conventional steel or aluminum – with fully utilized internal volume.

2013

The ContiLifeCycle rolls out in 2013, addressing the service life of Continental truck tires.

2017

The technologies made their official public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017.

2018

The experimental laboratory “Taraxagum Lab Anklam” is opened in 2018 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

2020

2020 is the 25th anniversary of Continental entering the market in China.

2021

2021 is a special year for Continental: On October 8, our company will celebrate its 150th anniversary.
