The Role


Prepares draft contracts, endorsements, and other documents for clients and markets. Researches regulations and other industry requirements impacting reinsurance contracts, as needed. Discusses contract issues with broker teams. Facilitates the brokers' negotiation of contract language and liaises with clients and markets, as needed. Assists with Contracts Department Business Plan Strategic Objectives/Action steps, in coordination with Executive Management Team. Maintains contract and correspondence files, in accordance with corporate guidelines. Works with contracts administrative staff, brokers, reinsurers and clients to ensure timely execution of reinsurance contracts. Provides peer-to-peer document review, training, and oversight for less experienced Contracts Department colleagues, as may be assigned by Executive Management. Documents the status and abstracts the content of contracts in the firm's document tracking systems.
Required:


Bachelors degree 7 years of previous industry related experience required.


Desired:


Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and at least eight years (five years with Juris Doctor) in a contract writing department of a reinsurance broker, reinsurance underwriter, or ceding company is required. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power Point. Experience with document management and workflow systems would be a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reinsurance contracts for various lines and programs is essential. Must understand and assimilate industry developments (such as the emergence of new lines of insurance, reinsurance structures, regulations, business processes, etc.) as they arise. Excellent writing skills required. Must be a skilled and an effective negotiator. Looking for an individual who can effectively present information to, and respond to questions from, managers, clients, and customers. Provides peer-to-peer document review and training as may be assigned by the Executive Management Team.
