ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a lead backend engineer to join our DTC / eCommerce team. The team is responsible for continuous buildout and improvement of the PAX digital platform and features and functions of the site. We are looking for a talented engineer who is passionate about tackling interesting problems at scale. You'll be working with a team of highly motivated and fast-moving cannabis professionals focused on creating innovative experiences and systems working together to deliver exceptional customer experiences and services.

This is a 6 month contract role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Build solutions that take into consideration issues of scaling, security, and performance
  • Own end-to-end design and implementation of features including development, testing and release
  • Collaborate closely with product and the rest of engineering to deliver on our roadmap
  • Implement standards and practices to improve and maintain code quality
  • Represent engineering in discussions with counterparts on the MIS team for business systems
  • Assist in troubleshooting production incidents and provide timely resolution

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 5+ years hands-on programming experience
  • Experienced with Java
  • Working knowledge of GIT or similar SCM systems
  • Familiarity with RESTful services and API design
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Ability to work autonomously as well in a team environment remotely
  • Write clear, concise and maintainable code that can be peer-reviewed
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related fields or demonstrable work experience
