Eastridge Legal is supporting the in-house legal department of a geotechnical/environmental engineering firm in its search for a Jr. Contracts Paralegal to join its team! The role is hybrid remote in the Sorrento Valley area and is Part-Time (20-25 hours per week). Please see the duties and requirements below:

A paralegal certificate is preferred, but not mandatory if the candidate has the requisite work experience

Minimum 1-2 years of contract review and administration experience. Experience working for a design professional company and with reviewing insurance terms is a plus.

Construction defect litigation experience preferred. Familiarity with Westlaw, drafting basic pleadings, and good researching skills are a plus.
The job consists of some collections work and clerical duties as well.

Excellent writing and communication skills are required.

Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Must be a self-starter and problem-solver

Must possess meticulous attention to detail.

Open to work from home flexibility but some hours in the office each week are required, particularly during training

Competitive compensation, expense/mileage reimbursement, 401(k) with company match, paid sick leave, paid holidays, company picnics, holiday parties, and a friendly working environment. Compensation is based on level of experience and qualifications.

Hourly rate is $25-30hr.

What you'll be doing:

SUMMARY

Responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a diverse range of contracts and other forms. Responsible for reviewing and advising on terms and requirements of certain existing contracts. Responsible for providing administrative and contract support to the Legal Department, including Associate Counsels, Assistant General Counsels, and the General Counsel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Collaborate with internal legal staff and business partners to populate, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), carrier agreements, client agreements, vendor agreements, and other similar forms and agreements.
* Provide contract support and independent review of NDAs, carrier agreements, client agreements, vendor agreements, and other similar forms and agreements.
* Proofread and edit agreements, amendments, and related forms, and perform all necessary contract follow-up activities.
* Ensure all contract data and information are appropriately entered and saved in relevant systems and databases.
* Assist with maintaining and updating the company's contract templates.
* Interact with internal business teams to obtain all appropriate and required internal reviews and approvals for contract terms and provisions.
* Independently respond to various internal business team questions, inquiries, or requests for clarification regarding contracts, terms/conditions, review and approval process, etc., and for non-standard inquiries, engage the appropriate in-house attorney(s) and provide actionable recommendations to such attorney(s) for their comprehensive review.
* Assist internal and external legal counsel with providing guidance on various legal matters.
* Develop knowledge of the company's intranet, and assist with maintaining the contract administration team's page.
* Maintain current, and assist with developing new, department processes and procedures relating to contract intake, review, and lifecycle management, and independently update such processes and procedures from time-to-time to increase department efficiencies and/or to ensure the processes and procedures remain current.
* Work with other members of legal team on special projects and initiatives.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

4+ years of related work experience

2+ years of contract review, drafting, and negotiation experience

Paralegal certificate preferred

SKILLS

Strong working knowledge of office technology (including proficiency in Microsoft Office products) - experience in contract management system is a plus
