What Does A Contractor Supervisor Do At University of Houston Downtown

* Provides general contract administration services through the management of scope of work, bids, request for proposals, contracts, field supervision of vendors and trades crafts, and project closeout documentation
* Manages project schedules, logistics and budgets
* Manages the process of confirming that projects adhere to department tracking methodology and record keeping
* Plans, schedules and estimates various requests for new construction, modifications, repairs, renovations or major maintenance
* Develops, reviews, edits, consolidates and maintains architectural and mechanical Autocad drawings
* Coordinates with other departments to ensure all information pertaining to projects has been consolidated for state, university and department reporting
* Interacts with Architects, Engineers, and other construction consultants
* Marginal Duties:

* Award: progress report review and submission; sub-award issuance; prior approval requests; cost transfer approval; requisition approval; salary allocation approval; budget tracking; data management; and award closeout
* Interprets sponsor policies to staff on issues such as allowable costs, charging mechanisms, capital equipment purchases, and use of consultants
* Organizes training as needed in areas related to compliance and disseminate pertinent regulatory changes
* Provides principal investigators with budget projections summarizing expenditures and projected expenditures to end of budget period; advises on potential budgetary problems
* Analyzes on-going and planned research activities, available funding, anticipated fluctuations in funding, staffing, etc. and projects near and long term financial needs.
* Collaborates with the leadership and principal investigators in developing strategic plans (and contingency plans) to meet identified needs
* Analyses and reports on the financial impact of implementing proposed new research projects
* Directly manages departmental staff and coordinates the work of administrative and research staff to meet anticipated project activities as well as grant application volume and deadlines
* Lead teams of administrators providing service to defined groups of PIs
* Interfaces directly with PIs in the provision of services across the entire award life cycle, cultivating a strong sense of collaboration based on effective and reliable customer service
* Interfaces with sponsors as a representative of D
* H for certain types of official business related to grants and contracts
* Works closely with Research Finance and others as appropriate during all stages of the award life cycle and provides guidance and training when appropriate
