Responsibilities

Provide general engineering/technical support for concept studies, feasibility studies, independent design reviews, In-service ship design and engineering activities, and shipboard installation support.
Assist in development, review, and update of technical sections of the Requests for Proposal (RFP) the Navy is generating for solicitation to shipyards.
Assist the programmatic and technical authority to implement DoD, SECNAV, OPNAV, and NAVSEA environmental and system safety requirements and policies.
Review Contractor delivered electrical and machinery controls products/CDRLs and provide feedback on adequacy, gaps, and issues.
Provide comprehensive, detailed, and timely communications and reports to all stakeholders.
Research, develop, coordinate, draft, and review technical documentation for new ship procurements as required.
Review, maintain, and make recommendations with regard to engineering plans, program records, technical manuals, design histories, design configurations, databases, regulatory body, and other documents.
Assess shipboard requirements and provide recommended engineering design and integration solutions, evaluate and provide inputs to shipbuilding contract documentation, and conduct engineering reviews of Shipbuilder products to ensure accuracy and compliance with the shipbuilding contract design.
Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for compliance with technical scope and assess engineering projections with cost and labor estimates.
Plan, coordinate and participate in Program, Ship Design, and Shipbuilder meetings and briefings.
Provide technical coordination between the Ship Program Manager, SEA 05, ISEAs, SSGC, Shipbuilder and their various OEMs, and other shipbuilding personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical or marine.
Minimum of 1-year professional experience in electrical, or marine engineering or relevant equivalent experience.

Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROCUREMENT
Plan, develop and manage the project construction engineering activities and schedule to include the coordination of procurement items to the project site.
Supervise preparation of Purchase Requisition's
Manage the submittal process and the obtaining of approvals of all shop drawings to the client
Prepare quotations to the client utilizing supplier information, cost standards, technical information from quality, manufacturing engineering, and design
SCHEDULING
Lead project meetings to collect and disseminate information pertaining to projects
Review and monitor progress of engineering effort to assure quality and adherence to requirements of contract documents
Oversight of the Project ControlsEngineer in the development and maintenance of the fully cost loaded project schedule
INTERNAL REPORTING
Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between/within the company and customer

COST CONTROL & BUDGET REVIEW
Assist in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for proposed projects and in the development and preparation of technical specifications
Assist in the preparation of probable construction cost estimates

DESIGN MANAGEMENT

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of Projections/Media Engineer. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays per season in 3 venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located 90 minutes from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America's coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV.
The Video/Media Engineer will typically work with the Projections Designer in one venue to implement their vision for the production, potentially incorporating a mixture of playback and live sources. The Engineer may work alongside other engineers and will also be responsible for supervising a Projections/Media Intern who will assist with system setup and then serve as a operator during performances.
Applicants should have experience working in flexible spaces with temporary projection systems and should be comfortable with basic theatrical rigging and working at heights over 20 feet (in lifts, ladders, or catwalks). Experience with Qlab, basic projector setup, and computer networking is required. Experience with crew management, equipment purchase and/or rental specification, and NDI video transport and/or live streaming is preferred.
Position is seasonal, from May 30 thru July 12, although an extension through early August may be available. All staff and interns are provided free air-conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of university gym, pool, and laundry facilities.
