Control Components Inc company history timeline

1961

V.M. Popov [1961] provided his circle criterion for nonlinear stability analysis.

The continuous Kalman filter was developed by Kalman and Bucy [1961].

1962

By now, automatic control theory using frequency-domain techniques had come of age, establishing itself as a paradigm (in the sense of Kuhn [1962]). On the one hand, a firm mathematical theory for servomechanisms had been established, and on the other, engineering design techniques were provided.

1965

By 1965, Digital Equipment Corporation was building the PDP-8, and the minicomputer industry began.

1966

Hall, A.C., "Application of Circuit Theory to the Design of Servomechanisms," J. Franklin Inst., 1966.

1969

With the advent of the microprocessor in 1969 a new area developed.

1970

By 1970, with the work of K. Åström [1970] and others, the importance of digital controls in process applications was firmly established.

A major proponent of classical techniques for multivariable systems was I. Horowitz, whose quantitative feedback theory developed in the early 1970's accomplishes robust design using the Nichols chart.

1974

The applications of digital filtering theory were investigated at the Analytic Sciences Corporation [Gelb 1974] and elsewhere.

1980

With the work on robust modern control in the early 1980's, there is now a technique (LQG/LTR, Chapter 10) for designing robust multivariable control systems.

1985

Beginning in 1985, our company started with a small offering of switch and panel products.

1987

1987 It all started with static-shielding bags Founder Ed Swartz opens the business by supplying static-shielding bags.

1989

1989 Hello, imaging division Seeing the need for a dedicated supplier, Static Control establishes an imaging division and offers products to the growing imaging aftermarket.

1992

1992 Nonstop print testing The 24-hour Static Control print lab opens its doors in 1992, and the test printing hasn't stopped since.

1994

1994 Meanwhile, across the pond Static Control becomes a global operating company as the first United Kingdom office opens.

1995

1995 Let the cleaning begin

1996

1996 HP 5Si meets its match

1998

1998 Technical achievements with PCRs A complete line of primary change rollers (PCR) are released with unique foam; Static Control files its first patent.

1999

1999 Expanding operations Static Control operations and capabilities now include chip manufacturing, toner packaging, injection molding and black oxidizing.

1999 NCEITA Electronic Company of the Year

1999 The first aftermarket chip is born

2002

2002 Splitting the HP® 9000 The cartridge end cap removal system for the HP 9000 is developed, allowing for the remanufacture of specialized cartridges by “splitting” them open.
