    We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to lead the design and integration of electrical systems or subsystems for high-degree-of-freedom robotic platforms. This role involves architecting the robot's power distribution, sensor wiring, and embedded electrical infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing across the full electrical system for advanced robotics platforms including including power distribution, sensing, compute, motor controllers, communication infrastructure, battery system and power electronics in close collaboration with mechanical, controls and software engineers. You'll play a key role in ensuring high-performance, reliable operation of complex electromechanical systems under real-world conditions. Key job responsibilities * Electrical system architect / owner for power electronics, actuation, PCBAs, battery, ware harness specs and high speed electrical/communications protocols * Design, develop and integrate power distribution, embedded electronics, motor controllers and safety-critical circuits for complex robotic systems * Own board layout of PCBAs including SoCs, microcontrollers, sensors, power devices, etc. using Cadence OrCAD/Allegro or equivalent tools. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to MKN's technical standards and design practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college. California Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems (or ability to obtain within 1 year). 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical and I&C design for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, and/or other hardware systems. Determines design approaches and parameters. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Job Duties: · Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for hardware systems. · Develops test strategies, devices, and systems. · Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects. · Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. · Performs stress and performance tests on a variety of computer hardware including circuit boards, processors, and wiring. · Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. · Designs and modifies PCB/PCA's using ECAD software. · Prepares and studies technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, to ensure conformity to standards and customer requirements. · Generates architecture for functional components and assists with product architecture. · Delivers hardware designs through prototype, beta, and production release in compliance with product development process and quality practices. · Supports existing products by troubleshooting and failure analysis. · Participates in technical design reviews of existing designs and peer reviews. · Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects. · Briefs others on deliverables, status, and progress. · Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, and charts. · Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues. · Intermediate level experience with design of analog and digital circuits · Ability to test designs to specification. · Circuit analysis skills using applied calculus and algebra, including component stress analysis. · Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and project management skills are required. · Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.
