The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Electrical Project Designer/Engineer performs technical duties under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager. Understands and identifies project requirements and performs independent technical work on basic and advanced tasks within one's own discipline. Provides guidance to Designers on completion of duties. Role will execute and ensure quality throughout the design process to meet our clients' needs and expectations. Your Key Responsibilities
- Develops advanced systems designs within own discipline with limited supervision.
- Delegates tasks to project designers as appropriate.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Possess advanced knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline and basic knowledge of practices and principals in other disciplines.
- Able to conceptualize basic building systems within own discipline in entirety including interactions with varied disparate components.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of nomenclature, design techniques, materials, details, system components, construction techniques, and related engineering systems.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, specifications, technical procedures, and government regulations.

The Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering inputs integral to both small and large-scale hydro and dam projects. You will lead and mentor teams, support management of production and coordinate delivery of engineering work products often with multi-disciplinary project team members and external stakeholders. You will not only support and help grow the broader engineering team capabilities, but your particular focus will be on continuing the development of our hydropower capabilities and working with key staff in growing the business.
You'll also be involved in supporting project management duties, coordinating with internal and external clients as well as assisting with guiding and mentoring other engineers within the team. In this role you will lead teams conducting technical work for feasibility studies, engineering designs, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and carrying out inspections for rehabilitation projects for dams and hydroelectric facilities. Your particular focus will be design delivery and mentorship, but you will also be involved in the proposal process. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a great team of engineers, technicians, scientists, and other industry-leading peers.
Key Responsibilities
Provide input to those managing and executing multiple projects (small to large) from the proposal stage through to completion
Establish connections with other departments to support and enhance service delivery
Work collaboratively with other disciplines and multidisciplinary project teams to execute project deliverables, as well as ensure that quality objectives, schedules, and budgets are met
Mentor junior staff
Design modifications to, or entirely new electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems related to dams, control structures, water retaining structures, switchyards and hydroelectric generating stations
Conduct feasibility studies for proposed designs and assess costs and benefits for alternatives in a systematic and thorough manner.
Manage and execute multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion; Projects will include a variety of small to large projects involving water resources, flood control and hydroelectric sectors
Prepare and review reports
Perform calculations
Conduct inspections and support project work on site as required
Edit and prepare design specifications
Conduct QA/QC reviews and facilitate the KGS's QA/QC process.

About You
To fill the role, we're looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights should include:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university; A post-graduate degree is an asset
Minimum of 7-15 years of experience in electrical engineering with demonstrated project management skills (tracking budgets and meeting schedules)
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Washington, Oregon, or California, as well as eligible for registration as a professional engineer in other states via comity within three months of starting.
Previous consulting experience is preferred but not required.

As the Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be on a dynamic team who is a technical subject matter expert providing technical management of products supporting the VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC! VIRGINIA Class Program Office (PMS450) executes and oversees the design, development, acquisition, construction and delivery of the United States' newest attack submarine. PMS450 is responsible for developing and deploying a more affordable, nuclear-powered attack submarine with multi-mission capability and enhanced capabilities for performance in littoral areas. VIRGINIA Class submarines support five of the six Navy core maritime capabilities: Deterrence, Maritime Security, Sea Control, Forward Presence, and Power Projection.
**In this role, you will:**
+ Assess risk for technical decisions for Electrical Systems for VIRGINIA Class Ships. Deliver detailed support/risk briefs to Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Deputy Ship Design Managers and provide technical expertise in the production of critical design and production documents provided by the System Integration Team (SIT) leads and Major Area Integration Team (MAIT) leads.
+ Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution for VIRGINIA Class Electrical Systems.
+ Provide expert responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Engineering Reports (ERs), Work Deferral Requests (WDRs), Departures from Specification (DFS), and Liaison Action Requests (LARs).
+ Support the VIRGINIA Class submarine Program Office Technical Division for the integration and execution of VIRGINIA Electrical system concept and design changes by participating / leading VTCs, working groups, and planning and technical meetings.
+ Assist with the development and implementation of programmatic documentation including ship and systems specifications, performance specifications, interface control documentation, and design decision documentation.
+ Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert representing PMS 450 and 05U2 with various activities and Program Offices as well as coordinating with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, EB, HII-NNS, TYCOM, PMS 394 PMS 390, PMS 399, PMS 406, PMS 404, PMS 415, PMS 425, NAVSEA 05, PMA-280, and SUPSHIP for design reviews, system engineering efforts, hardware and software development, system / subsystems / sub-tier specification development, and interface definition and documentation.
+ Provide subject matter expertise in the development of technology roadmaps and processes to support Block Upgrades.
+ Review technical correspondence from EB, adjudicating comments, and providing official PMS 450 responses.
+ Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training materials, and provide technical recommendations.
+ Work with other PMS 450 positions to include other SITs, SDMs, DSDMs, MAITs, and NAVSEA Technical Warrant Holders (TWH), including electrical, mechanical, propulsion, ship safety and others.
+ Deliver formal presentations of engineering issues and concerns to the PMS 450 Program Manager and other senior officials on complex issues.
**To be successful in this role you will have:**
+ An active or current DoD Secret clearance.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Marine, Chemical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field/curriculum having an Electrical concentration, such as Computer Engineering or Robotics Engineering) and Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant field.

The Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering inputs integral to both small and large scale hydro projects. You will lead and mentor teams, support management of production and coordinate delivery of engineering inputs often with multi-disciplinary project team members and senior stakeholders. You will not only support and help grow the broader engineering team capabilities, but your particular focus will be on continuing the development of our powerhouse and energy capabilities and working with key staff in growing that aspect of the business.
You'll also be involved in supporting project management duties, liaising with both internal and external clients as well as assisting with guiding and mentoring graduate engineers within the team. In this role you will lead teams conducting technical work for feasibility studies, engineering designs, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and carrying out onsite visits for rehabilitation and upgrades to dams, hydroelectric facilities and new hydroelectric developments. You will participate in design and play a large role in mentoring the team. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a great team of engineers and scientists, and you will also interface directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide input to those managing and executing multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion. Projects will include a variety of small to large projects.
Establish and facilitate connections with other departments to support and enhance service delivery.
Work collaboratively with other disciplines and multidisciplinary project teams to execute project deliverables, as well as ensure that quality objectives, schedules and budgets are met.
Support and collaborate on new business opportunities with new and existing clients, as well as supporting business development efforts for electrical work.

About You
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university. A post graduate degree would be an asset.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering with demonstrated project management skills (tracking budgets and meeting schedules).
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California, Oregon, or Washington, as well as eligible for registration as a professional engineer in other states by comity through NCEES.
Demonstrated leadership of electrical design projects in the industrial power generation field, with experience managing and mentoring younger staff.
Previous consulting experience is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Client interaction: must be able to effectively assume a lead role as project engineer at project meetings and communicate project and technical information.
Demonstrated experience in site investigations, condition assessments, design and construction support are preferred.
