Job Summary:
This entry level Electrical Engineer is a great opportunity to apply your technical skills while coordinating numerous capital projects across the Plate department. This role is driven by self-directed work and collaborative efforts with a team of Electrical Engineers, Technical staff, maintenance, and production across the department.
The Electrical Engineer reports to the Lead Electrical Engineer in the department and will work Monday through Friday during daytime hours. You will support off-shifts as needed for your respective projects.
In this role, you will:
Coordinate all phases of assigned area electrical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure.
Lead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production.
Use PI Vision and Data Link to analyze process issues and provide input to solve process problems.
Create and develop electrical control solutions that will support process improvements and improve equipment reliability.
Assist production and maintenance with equipment and process issues.
PLC/HMI and controls redesign and upgrades of existing processes.
Install and troubleshoot camera systems on industrial equipment.
Incorporate SMART Manufacturing principles and tools into automated inspection systems to improve processes, data collection/analysis, and drive quick results in recovery improvements.
Qualifications
You have:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
1-3 years of Electrical Engineering experience (including Internship)

Job Description
Olsson's Facilities Engineering and Design Team is at the forefront of engineering innovation, providing comprehensive services for large commercial developments, healthcare facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, data centers, and military installations. Our expertise includes engineering analysis, design services, and professional consulting, ensuring top-tier quality and world class installations. We also provide building inspection and forensic investigation services. As a member of this team, you will contribute to diverse, high-impact projects, delivering engineering solutions that make a tangible difference in communities and industries.
As a Project Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the electrical design and coordinating electrical systems using both AutoCAD and Revit including the creation of construction documents and specifications. Responsibilities include executing quality assurance/quality control plans, mentoring and training, coordinating with other disciplines, performing supporting calculations, meeting with clients to discuss conceptual and final designs, and travel to job sites for observation. Our electrical design services can include power distribution, lighting, arc flash studies, and electrical modeling.

Program PLC and HMI systems for equipment control, both in-house and at customer sites. Respond to customer requests for technical information on previously delivered products. Design single-line diagrams and electrical schematics for new and existing systems. Create electrical site plans, including motor and device locations and layout drawings. Collaborate with the purchasing department to specify and source materials for electrical projects. Analyze product failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Provide on-site support for customer and contractor installation and equipment startups.

Tri-City Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with Industrial Power System project experience for an immediate opening in Davenport, Iowa. The Industrial Power Systems Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, and executing industrial projects from proposal through commissioning. The Industrial Power Systems Electrical Engineer will provide technical support to our Industrial and Power Testing Solutions divisions and will report to the Vice President, Engineered Solutions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Electrical equipment specification
Power distribution system design and layout
Power system control/automation design
Protective device settings and coordination
Project management
Installation supervision and commissioning
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least ten years of related experience in electrical design of industrial electrical power systems. Candidates should have experience with the following:
Specification of low-voltage (controls systems
SKM Power Tools for Windows or EasyPower Software for short-circuit, load flow, coordination and arc flash hazard analysis
Specification and programming of protective devices, including trip units and protective relays
AutoDesk AutoCAD and/or Revit for development of electrical schematics and installation plans
Qualified candidates should also have a thorough knowledge of NEC as applied to industrial electrical design, strong communication skills both orally and in writing, business acumen, strong attention to detail and safety, and be able to represent the company with professionalism and integrity.
Preferred candidates will also have experience with switchgear automation and SCADA/DCS interfaces, and be a registered Professional Engineer (preferably in Iowa or Illinois) with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) for application for reciprocity licenses in additional states and/or territories as needed. Tri-City Electric Co. will reimburse the candidate for all required professional fees and continuing education requirements required to maintain the candidate's professional license.
