Typical responsibilities include, but not limited to: Responsibilities Handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level engineer Design and troubleshoot both software and hardware necessary for control systems utilizing PLCs for integration of manufacturing systems. Automate manufacturing processes through the use of instrumentation or controls systems. Design, diagnose, and troubleshoot network infrastructures - Ethernet, DeviceNet, AS-i, Profibus etc. Develop new PLC applications, interfaces, or embedded controls Develop new or modify existing set-up and commissioning of new facilities or upgrading of existing facilities Design, specify, wire, and procure control panel equipment, e.g. safety circuits, I/O, networks, etc. Design, specify, and procure electrical equipment, e.g. MCCs, panelboards, transformers, etc. Specify, procure, configure, and troubleshoot controls hardware and field instrumentation Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions and make recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations Develop bid documentation for Electrical, Automation, and Low Voltage (network, security) vendors Document specifications and operating procedures Interface and manage installation contractors during construction Research Automation & Controls materials and best practices Support talent growth within our organization Required Education Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field 0-3 years of work experience or schooling and familiarity with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell Systems. 0-3 years of work experience or schooling in Visual Basic, SQL, MS ACCESS Database programming skills a plus 0-3 years of work experience or schooling with design and implementation process network infrastructures (Ethernet, Device Net, Control Net, ProfiBus, etc.) 0-3 years of work experience and/or internship(s) in an industrial manufacturing setting Database programming skills a plus Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD Required This role is client facing, those successful in this role are professional, self-motivated, and energetic individuals with excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Must meet travel requirement - you will spend significant time in our client's facilities during installation and startup/commissioning/qualification phases of a project - 35% to 50% of any given time of the year. Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs. Develops complex software programs, commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the building control system. Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team and subcontractors. How will you do it HVAC Controls engineering and design specialist at a Complex / Key Customer Site in major Metro Market. Designs and configures are technically HVAC complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Develop and tests software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent. Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues. Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system. May provide work directions to Systems Design Assistants. Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Coordinates and creates necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule. Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provides field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software. Participates in the release meeting with project field team. Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction. What we look for Required Johnson Controls Experience - 2 years plus Metasys experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 3 years' experience Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry. Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. Demonstrated experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e., LON, BACnet, etc.). Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience. Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools. Strong mechanical and controls knowledge specifically in research / lab environments. Demonstrate strict quality control standards when reviewing software, database and graphical interfaces in JCI Metasys Environment. Hiring Compensation Range: $68,000.00 - 85,000.00 USD Annual.
