Performing various aspects of automation controls design including the understanding, use, and development of automation/control logic, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programs, and graphics for human-machine interface (HMI), electrical schematics, Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID's), and wiring diagrams.
Designing and programming industrial control systems (ICS) including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote I/O systems, remote terminal units (RTUs), and human-machine interface (HMI) components.
Working collaboratively within project teams including electrical engineers, control system programmers, information system programmers, manufacturing representatives, suppliers, purchasers and other client representatives to design, develop, manufacture, install, and deliver integrated automation controls solutions and processes.
Assisting, as directed, with the management of the mechanical portion of projects, and working with assigned project managers, to meet client's budget, contract fees, goals, objectives, and deadlines.
Providing check-out, operational testing, commissioning, start-up, and calibration of controls systems at customer sites, coordinating with the firm's building commissioning services as appropriate.
Providing assessments, troubleshooting, maintenance, redesign, and end-user training services to assist client in reaching equipment utilization and operational goals.
Recommending equipment operational parameters, technical specifications, calibration requirements, and spare parts recommendations.
Preparing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures for the automated equipment and systems.
Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and Clark Nexsen's quality control policies and procedures
Performing construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings, preparing as-builts, etc., as directed.
Working with, responding to, and taking direction from project managers, PICs, Operations Directors, and Senior Management
May act as a lead or first-level supervisor when necessary

Required Skills
Performing various design services, including Conceptual Studies, Process flow diagrams, P&IDs, instrument selection, Control Panel Design with minimal direction from supervising staff.
Coordinating and commissioning all aspects of industrial controls design and installation as requested by the Design Manager or Project Engineer.
Developing project schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents
Complying with quality control policies and procedures
Providing support services during the bidding process, i.e.

Required Experience
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required and 7-18 years of specific project experience in the design and installation, including start up and commissioning of Automaton Controls systems and knowledge of applicable codes/standards.
An Associate's, Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in a field of study related to automation controls systems; or a Certificate in a field of study related to automaton controls systems are preferrable.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience of Automation Controls design experience in one or more of the following types of design projects:

Process Control Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY: Supports both PLC and DCS control systems throughout the mill. This position is responsible for designing and implementing controls, maintaining and troubleshooting control systems, and finding and implementing control improvements. In order to best support the mill\u2019s operations and capital projects this position acts as the primary process control representative to all Production areas (Utilities, Paper Mill, and Pulp Mill). The position also works across production areas to support to Multiple Projects in all areas of the plant. MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Process Control Engineer will report directly to the Process Control Manager. This position serves as a point position for all facets of day-to-day process control support in an area of the facility. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:

The successful candidate will have experience designing control systems from the ground up. These systems would include control panels, PLC's, HMI's, VFD's, and potentially many other types of industrial automation equipment. Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus/TCP, ProfiNet, etc.) and networking devices is expected, and knowledge of UL 508A is ideal. Candidates with experience as a systems integrator or panel designer are ideal. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (not just standard AutoCAD) is highly preferred. Daily work:

Comply with arc flash, confined space, hot work, LOTO procedures and policies.

General:
Assist in developing specifications for instrumentation, controls, and electrical components. Read and interpret software control logic, electrical diagrams, manuals, and drawings.
Perform installation, maintenance, testing and calibration of general control systems, transmitters, gauges, control valves, transducers, probes, level switches, pressure switches, temperature switches, flowmeters, and associated equipment that send and receive data.

Skills and Requirements
