The Electrical Controls Technician will serve as the team's subject matter expert in controls and electrical systems. This role involves close collaboration with Floor Leads and Operators to troubleshoot issues and enhance machine performance, including PLCs, HMIs, electrical components, and overall process optimization. In addition to supporting daily operations, the technician may also contribute to specific engineering projects. You must have the ability to hit the ground running with troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics, as well as possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Essential Functions:
Program PLC control systems for various facility processes to automate and optimize operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PLC hardware and software to maintain system reliability.
Conduct regular maintenance and implement upgrades to automation systems to improve efficiency.
Develop and implement control strategies to optimize system performance and productivity.
Establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate PLC systems with existing infrastructure.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for PLC operation and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in PLC programming and control system development.
Familiarity with major PLC brands (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, Omron) and programming languages.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM software.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross- functional teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work on schedule.
Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance is required for this position.

The Test Facilities Responsible SME leads all hardware/software troubleshooting, repair, installation, maintenance and integration at our various test facilities. Engineers will work with our instrumentation technicians (UAW) employees to meet customer needs in a fast paced, multi-faceted, unionized, testing environment. The selected candidate will coordinate all PLCs, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and software integration activities across the various test facilities and our calibration lab at the proving grounds. Engineers will coach and mentor other team members in utilizing World Class Engineering techniques for problem solving and corrective action implementation.
Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Possess a general level of technical understanding related to basic electrical fundamentals: wire harnesses, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, calibration, HMI, data acquisition, etc.
Direct supervision of and working with unionized technicians in all maintenance activities
Will posses or be willing to learn ISO documentation, automotive regulatory needs etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics Engineering
1-3 years of experience working with maintenance teams in a union environment
1-3 years of experience with controls/robotics/drives/PLCs, HMI/VFD/Circuit design/sensors use/calibration and application.
Good working knowledge of software programs
