Job duties:
Primary and secondary role:
* The primary role will be working with the multifunctional team planning and executing engine test directives. The multifunctional team includes Test Engineer Lead, Performance, Dynamics and operators.
* You will be required to monitor the control system to ensure safe operation. This may also include performing software adjustments as required.
* If anomalies occur you will need to help diagnose the root cause and help provide a solution to continue testing.
* The secondary role will be to support Systems Verification remotely when engine test is not occurring. You will work with team members based in Indianapolis, Indiana on creating and executing test procedures remotely on a test rig.
* Onsite training will be provided.
Required qualifications:
* Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is a required.

* Previous Gas Turbine is preferred, other control system test experience will be considered.

Compensation:

A Controls Engineer is required for the design, detail, and program of motor controls. All design work is to be completed on Autodesk AutoCAD or EPlan. The ideal candidate for this position will have a thorough understanding of motor control and panel design. This position will have the opportunity to grow through design, engineering and manufacturing of motor controls.

What you will do

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience: Examples of this experience includes: Leading and/or performing engineering work involving electronic circuits, circuit elements and equipment systems; applying a number of diverse electronics engineering practices, techniques and processes to identify and resolve complex engineering issues; supporting the planning, testing and troubleshooting of electronics engineering systems or devices; and, developing computer aided engineering analysis and tools in support of planning and designing applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Instrumentation

Maintains all electrical schematics to ensure changes are recorded and that all library copies are accurate and available to all members of the E&I department.
Assist with developing data acquisition historian reports and trends. Also, perform historian system maintenance.
Perform resource functions for E&I technicians, including scoping, engineering and ordering parts, as needed.
Maintains and troubleshoots all machine instrumentation and electrical systems up to 4200 VAC, as needed.
Configure, troubleshoot and repair motor control centers, variable frequency drives and soft-starts up to 4160 Volt.
Installation, calibration and troubleshooting of pressure, level, flow, temperature, consistency, conductivity, turbidity and pH transmitters.
Tuning of process control loops and machine control systems.
Programming and troubleshooting of DCS, PLC and HMI interfaces.
Perform configuration and logic modifications to DCS and PLC control systems. Modifications will include programming in ladder logic, block logic. sequential logic and statement logic.
Troubleshoot and diagnose configuration and implementation of integrated and stand-alone graphic human machine interfaces.
Troubleshoot and diagnose specification of communication protocols, including Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet.
Design and implement process control strategies including regulatory control, control sequence, logic, and advanced control for both continuous and batch processes
Develop, modify, and enhance HMI
Monitor control system performance, which includes loop analysis and tuning

Support process problem solving by identifying sources of process upsets and other anomalies

QUALIFICATIONS

This position reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager and is responsible for moderately complex engineering projects and directing the work of assigned technical associates to promote increased performance and reliability of machinery and equipment through failure analysis.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results. Safety Certification in IP system required.
Work with operations and maintenance teams to implement strategic maintenance initiatives that support achievement of reliability objectives, key performance metrics, and maintenance cost objectives, and capital projects execution.
Drive continuous improvement through positive influence, IP best practices, FMEA, and RCFA.
Responsible for all aspects of project management: scope development, estimating, planning, design, prioritization, scheduling, implementation/construction management, and budget management.
Responsible for process variability reduction and equipment reliability improvements.
RCFA facilitation by leading a group to quickly and thoroughly identify and solve latent causes.
Responsible for ensuring projects are compliant with all environmental and safety requirements.
Provides electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design support to the Maintenance Department including capital projects.
Provides technical assistance and advice as necessary to aid in troubleshooting complex issues in manufacturing processes.
Support the Electrical Power Distribution system and Motor Champion programs.
Support the planning effort and execution of Plant shutdowns to include: complex job planning, job coordination, resource planning, and financial management.
Monitor effectiveness of E&I predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
Support Maintenance training processes in alignment with GMTI to ensure highly skilled team members.
Build effective systems and materials such as operating procedures (SOP), troubleshooting documents (TCC), and other training materials.
Complete technical process evaluations and improvements.
Seek out and implement best practices using teams, databases, vendors, and other technical resources.
Serve as a contractor coordinator (IPCC) as required.
Participate in the 5S program, including leading 5S improvement projects as needed.
Participate in cost reduction program idea generation and implementation process.
Provide support for capital project development and implementation.
Rotate with other leaders to provide Weekend Duty leadership.

As a Control Automation Engineer on our team, you'll be responsible for coordinating the Machines and Automation efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes for current programs. Assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements: Reduced Scrap, Increase OE, Reduced Cycle Time. **Location**

**Responsibilities**
