AUTOMATION CONTROLS ENGINEER

As a member of the Automation team, the Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for leading, supporting, implementing, and managing automation projections while driving innovation in advancements.
The candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America. The candidate must be able to develop the concept, aid in the mechanical-electrical design, install, train the receiving plant, and provide ongoing support for the robot cell. The candidate must also possess the skill to project lead other integrators as a subject matter expert.

The Role:
• Responsible for projects from technical specification to startup support

Qualifications:
• Expert in (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Factory Talk HMI, Baluff I/O link, programming).
• Fanuc Programming or basic understanding with Robotics
• Understand and communicate applicable safety standards: general industry (OSHA 1910), machine guarding, robot safety (ANSI/RIA 15.06), automated vehicles, conveyor safety
• Supporting member of Risk Assessments on all automated equipment
• Auto CAD Experience
• Ability to read electrical drawings
• Coordinate and manage controls systems
• Communication with external manufacturing system /MES
• Atlas Copco Tools Talk programming and interface with torque tools
• Experience with controls and programming servo driven equipment

Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews
Review, revise, and create procedures, Management of Change (MOC), and other technical documentation
Communicate effectively at all levels and across sites and functions
Participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts

5+ years of experience in Process Controls and Safety Interlock Systems (preferably ABB DCS Systems).
2+ years of experience with highly hazardous chemical processes.
Knowledge of chemical processes and methodologies applicable to a manufacturing setting.
Working knowledge of key Process Safety Management (PSM) technology elements such as PHA, Process Technology, Management of Change, and Mechanical Integrity / Quality Assurance (MIQA).
